Come, little bird - Vann and Sparrow [Continuation from Market - OPEN] Empty Come, little bird - Vann and Sparrow [Continuation from Market - OPEN]

Continued from this thread

A brief look of disappointment crossed the patron’s faces as he turned down their lust for revenge, but it was bowled over by his telepathic suggestions. And,to boot, the little snake was given plenty of money by them. They didn’t have quite so much left after Sparrow’s maelstrom had absorbed a great deal of it, but, they would have him sitting pretty by the time he put his hand back and stooped to pick the woman up. A few echoes of nice young man and a few assumptions with smiles that he meant to throw her off of the nearby piers would follow him as he went about his business.

Vann would find Sparrow light but hot, not so much it would burn him but much warmer than a human should have been. She appeared to have nothing on her person other than something round and hard in a leather sack under her clothing which would occasionally knock Vann on the shoulder as he walked. As he did so he might notice that Sparrow still seemed somewhat magnetic— not as much as before but any metal bits on his clothing might lift toward her and, occasionally, a fork or two would tumble behind the pair as they made way for The Lowborn.

Upon entering he would in fact get a brief, strange look from Goliath: the older, very tall and broad woman behind the bar with a cigarette hanging from her lips as she cleaned a series of beer mugs. None of the other patrons seemed to care or notice but she did jerk a thumb toward the sign in front of the hall communicating in plain language how much it would cost him per night to take a room. Seems she likely hadn’t remembered the fellow from the night before.

”Gonna cost you for some first aid bits too. She’s bleedin’ a bit….you got her good, didn’t you?” Spoken with a hint of distaste as it was clear Goliath assumed he’d “Mollywhopped” a vagrant woman and now intended to have his way with her. He could at least wash the blood off, couldnt he? Any corrections needed were only given a shrug in return until she was paid and Vann could be on his way upstairs to the corner-attick room on the third floor. The Lowborn had nice enough boarding even if the chambers were small. They still came with a small bathing closet and fullsized beds.

Come, little bird - Vann and Sparrow [Continuation from Market - OPEN] Empty Re: Come, little bird - Vann and Sparrow [Continuation from Market - OPEN]

"That must be a fever, or is it her power?" he thought wondering what was in her bag. He sighed as he trudged onward, wondering what this might get him. He was always looking out for himself it seemed. He moved further and into the tavern. He walked in and saw the big burly woman. "I wasn't the one that wounded her..." he almost went on about all the trouble she had caused but thought better of it. "I'm trying to help her." He doubted she would believe him and he rolled his eyes paying her off for the supplies, a few exotic herbs.

He took her upstairs slowly and laid her down, before sighing and sitting down. "Alright..." he said. "Lets get to work..." first and foremost he was a scoundrel, and he would focus on making sure he was safe before administering the treatments. He made a circle around the bed and took a dab of her blood mixing it with his own which was still coming from the minor wound he had given himself earlier, making the circle.

Seeking to create a focusing-mechanism for his will, and bind the area against her power, creating a "dead-zone" by emanating interference on multiple wave-lengths, focusing upon the latent signature of her own individuality within her blood. Secondly he began to shameless go through just a few memories and emotions of her to learn more about her, moving through her subconscious, and fiddling just a bit to take some precautions if she woke up in less than a forgiving or grateful mood. Implanting a few suggestions here and there, that could be activated, unless she had some means to stop such a thing. They would not be immediately noticeable though, wrapped up in the subconsciousness of her dreams, manipulated to be pleasant if possible.

Once these "precautions" were done, he laid his hands over her wound, and inspected its nature. He took the first aid anti-septic and pored it over the wound, while focusing on it and seeking to enhance its inherent properties to disinfect it. He then laid his hands upon it, and began to focus his will upon her body moving to feed extra energy to her natural ability to heal, while also seeking to purge what remained of the infection from her body.

Afterwards if that worked, he would go through all the minor wounds accumulated upon her body, from head to toe, moving slowly and methodically to increase her comfort. When he was finally done he would move away from the bed somewhat exhausted and then look at her to snap his fingers and have her awaken from the dreams he had given her.

Come, little bird - Vann and Sparrow [Continuation from Market - OPEN] Empty Re: Come, little bird - Vann and Sparrow [Continuation from Market - OPEN]

Goliath, as expected, gave Vann a very Sure, buddy kind of look and a noncommittal sound to go with it. It wasn’t her business and she was a hawkish woman who assumed the most and was most often correct about her guesses, at that. She’d also heard every excuse in the book. As long as they kept her rooms clean he could bring as many wounded, half starved waifs into her establishment as he chose— as long as they looked to be adults. The heap of unconsciousness over his shoulder clocked to her somewhere in the early twenties but one could never tell with the darker skinned folk. The sun wasn’t as cruel to them over their years.

After laying Sparrow down the brown leather satchel would come loose, tumble out and the sphere inside would hit the wood with an impact that might scare him into thinking he would be paying for a dent in the floor. Free from the leather...it looked as if it might be a glass trinket of some sort that was about the size of an egg. If Vann picked it up he would see it was a single blue tea rose inside of it. It could have been something cheap from one of the market shops, though, why would a woman like this take time to purchase something so gaudy? On the other hand unlike the common resin or glass encasement souvenirs this had no scratches on its surface and several different angles bathed the small rose inside with rainbow fire. Certainly a strange item that was uncharacteristic for its holder to not only possess it and it alone, aside from her clothes, but to be concerned with keeping it a secret and protected by raw leather was strange to say the least.

Regardless, Sparrow was unconscious and in no place or awareness to snatch it back.

Vann wanted to open a door still and he would be privy to a great wash of strange information. He likely hadn’t expected Sparrow to be boring, but, would he have anticipated that she was near eighty-five years of age? That she had children but had not raised them— had abandoned them after their births but seemed more than concerned with their safety even from afar? One was in the north on some sort of ranch and the other Sparrow had secretely observed as homeless in a city known as Novus Orsa. There may have been more but it would be hard to tell. She was bitter about a woman— sometimes a man...the memory was strange in that it kept shifting her gender— with dark skin, white hair and red eyes. “Sophonax”. A bit deeper and he’d begin to scratch the surface of her surly behavior and power.

Sparrow had been born a ferrokinetic to a family that considered her possessed by demonic forces. They sold her to a man in gaudy furs known only as “The Collector” and he already had ten other preternaturally talented or otherworldly women in his displays who were all named after birds. Lark, Crow, Canary, Raven, Dove….just to name a few. If he could control their power and them they were his slaves of sort and he was a man who was known very well all over the Sanctum’s human trafficking networks. He paid well for each of them. Sparrow had been a member of his collection for nearly three decades before finding a way out.

Vann may or may not understand that he’d only seen glimpses of what she was capable of. She could bend the planet’s magnetic field to her whims if she wanted, use it to fly. She could generate small amounts of metal and nothing of the element was off limits to her whims. There were mages of immense fame and celebrity that had a fraction of the power this woman possessed and in her time she had made many enemies. How had she been in the market and wounded? The Collector had many agents among the very security forces for the market and they were operating under Keep Or Kill criteria. It had been one of them who had stabbed her days earlier with a poisoned lance— some strange material, likely an acidic poison which she was particularly vulnerable to.
Now, the man was snapping his fingers and the woman was groaning and trying to open her eyes. Up close he’d see they were still a strange warm gray with an inhuman sheen and they rolled about before focusing on him as she tried to sit up.

’Did I not say I..I had no money…’ would be the first thing she choked out of a dry throat. Sparrow did feel better as his work had neutralized the poison— but she wasn’t out of the woods just yet. Already she was weakly trying to shuffle out of the bed and seemed uncaring that her bloody clothing had been opened if applicable. Any skin exposure seemed outside of her realm of acknowledgment.

Come, little bird - Vann and Sparrow [Continuation from Market - OPEN] Empty Re: Come, little bird - Vann and Sparrow [Continuation from Market - OPEN]

As Vann examined her mind, or rather found more than he bargained for he felt a pang of guilt for his previous plans. It did not seem right to try and use her as she had already been used. Perhaps he would just help her and cut his losses or rather his gains. He was a little surly at the prospect, he thought he might have found a prospective crew-member with her, but it seemed fairly clear she had priorities. He was interested in this Collector person however who seemed to be in Market-City. But for what End only Vann would know. As for the Sophonax person, that was too muddled for him to get much out of.

"Stop." he said holding up a hand, as the suggestions he had put in her head would facilitate the "request". "You haven't recovered yet, I know you don't have any money, and I was hoping maybe we could come to some kind of other arrangement." he continued. "However I can see that, even that might not be desirable for you... So I healed you in order to lessen the chance of anymore destruction. Stay here a while, and let your body recuperate, then you can do whatever you want without fear of exacerbating your injury."

His tone seemed slightly weary, he had expended a good bit of his capacity to act beyond the physical it seemed in his healing of her, not too mention the precautions he took. He leaned back in his seat and got a bottle of brandy sighing again. "Or if you insist just leave, I really don't have the inclination to argue right now..." he added as he lifted up his mask to take a drink of some nearby brandy.
