Fenris had not spent much time in this city. He knew it was near the Edge-Outpost he had built, an was due east of it near the coast. He knew by Celesin Standards the city was rather "quaint". More rugged than the Celestial-Cities of Lu'Rae and Shad'Rae that could transcend positioning and move within worlds or among the stars. It was not exactly the great floating Ziggurat of Maur-Prima either, floating above the continental nation of the Empire of black sun. That was probably worth something to Fenris, he was never quite at home in the brilliant trappings brought on about grand civilizations.

He was not dressed in the attire of his station, instead opting on a sleeveless forest-green v-neck, and dark denim with boots. His typical look when out of uniform. He stroked his beard slightly, having let it grow out more than he had used too. A bronze hand shifted through long hair that had contrasting colours of light and dark, while semi-gold eyes surveyed the gate-port. He had invited the Ordo-Neophyte Herzog to visit the city with him, since she seemed so keen to travel, and so curious for just about everything. He wondered if she might faint with excitement as soon as she saw the modest-settlement.

Herzog found new appreciate for the aero-escort on the way over to Novus Orsa. The last time she’d set foot from Maur Prima she’d gone by land; commissioning one of the speed caravan drivers taking the trade routes out of the continent to ferry her for pay to the Celesin outpost thousands of miles from her station. After essentially being smuggled? This was heaven.

The low cushions inside of the air craft cradled her body as she lounged; having only been aboard a mere forty five minutes— long enough to remove her embroidered overcoat and slippers for the cool, gauzy black silk of her uniform underneath while she ate a sort of truffle rolled in tamarind powder and carmelized sugar with hints of intense spice. The sort of amenities one was afforded when they got permission were incredible! That said, Herzog was fully aware how strange it was for both her higher Matrices and the Empress herself to sign off on her ventures with the Primoris with ease. At first they’d tried to dissuade her from forming a friendship with him, or any male aside from Sirhan really. And then, very suddenly, they’d given her the freedom and had communicated to her that if anyone could keep her safe away from the eyes of her Escort it must be the Primoris.

Herzog was a clever girl and a scholar. She knew there may have been ulterior motives and was positive they had sent a pair or four or unseen eyes to make sure she didn’t “get into any trouble”. The guardsman in the back chamber with her (also the only other body aboard the craft) in his deep blue, black and silver uniform and fancy turban had squinted at her the entire time for obvious reasons. What, pray tell, was an OTO acolyte— a member of the most important station in the empire below the royal families and with too much autonomy and state control for comfort— doing galivanting around with an equally important, if not more, figure from a rival empire which had threatened their people and empress not too far in the past….under the guise of friendship?

His name was Ontwen and he, too, was a smart man and a soldier. He couldn’t stop eyeing the acolyte sorceress with unease; his mouth pinched and twisted under his immaculately groomed beard. Ontwen spoke— seemingly not for the first time— and found himself cut off by her almost instantly.

“I am not sure what you’d like me to offer you as placation, Ontwen. I have not lied to you, my matrices or Her Infernal Matrix. It isn’t any of your concern. The Primoris provides good company, tells me much of Celesin and is kind. Please...stop asking of my motives.” In order for her to be so bold he’d clearly had to bother the usually soft spoken acolyte. And as if to communicate so she looked up with eyes like oxidized bronze; her tightly coiled locks another shade of metal in copper which had been pulled into an intricate knot at the crown of her skull.

“He-” The unwise one began again, and this time was interrupted by an announcement that they were landing.

“Thank all the suns…” said Herzog with an eyeroll; peeling back a heavy blue velvet curtain and looking outside of the rounded, oblong port window to see the city below. So alien! At once the high structures looked to be made of glass not unlike the obsidian walls of the zigurrat. Light was everywhere and in every color; rendering the stars invisible against a deep mauve night sky. A faint drizzle added to the effect. Herzog had never seen advertisements before and stared at the moving images hawking her sodas, beauty products and familiar weapons that shot beams of light. Now and then the screens on every building would show an image of the “Harsonas Crest” (was that what the symbol on Fenris’ breast was called?) and then alien writing would cruise over images of five people— one of which was Fenris.

Herzog did not recognize a man with mahogany hair, a brown skinned fellow with crimson eyes and what possibly was a woman she’d gotten a glimpse of before at the outpost. The girl felt a pang of shame that she couldnt discern the figure’s gender and decided to leave it be. The final figure she did know quite well. Didn’t everyone?

“The emperor Mesiphidon…” she’d whisper; wondering what made his eyes bear white fire while Ontwen growled something in the background. He’d find himself ignored again.

The city upon closer look was a little worse for wear. Not all of those advertisement screens worked. A few were shattered— just like the windows in one of those sky high buildings she’d seen. Theere wasn’t time to try and drink in the details while staring out of the window as sky frigate finally touched down, and Herzog hurriedly disboarded. Only for a moment, thankfully, would Ontwen glower glower over her shoulder at the Primoris before making a promise to wait with the floating, soundless frigate which resembled some sort of ornate caravan ready insect rather than the clean, sleek technology of their rival empire.

“Fenris! you— oh you have chosen modern garb today! Oh-’ Herzog paused and whispered to him. “Is it so the people around do not recognize you from those images? Would that be a danger? Is this why you wear your face’s hair like Ontwen? Or will soon? Who were the others in the image with your seal upon them? Brothny are there? Is this city truly of Celesin? It does seem crowded and in poor health!” No, she hadn’t fainted yet but she was wide eyed with excitement and curiosity; trying apparently to know everything at once and point it out to boot.

Fenris himelf had wondered why things had gotten much less tense with the brass of the Black-Sun. Perhaps it was his tentative "friendship" with the Empress, or the fact that he had met with the progenitors of their species and regarded them as casual-aquaintences. Perhaps there was even the possibility that they wanted Herzog close with the Primoris for political or even deceptive reasons. Whatever the case it hardly mattered, the fact he acknowledged the possibilities was typically enough to keep him on guard, but with Herzog he had trouble believing her intentions were anything but innocent. He liked her, perhaps more than liked truth be told, but there was no goal in mind, as far as he was concerned he simply enjoyed her company.

He gave a light yawn as he waited, his canids showing in accentuated emphasis as he cracked his neck, hoping most would not recognize him out of his uniform, indeed only more informed members of the Imperium might know the face of a Primoris, then again Fenris had never really bothered to learn what the Celesin Media was like, he might be well served to watch a pundit or a news-channel once in a while he supposed. Then he saw it, his face plastered about on the giant vid-screen. "So much for that theory... I need to get out more..." he sighed scratching the back of his head. Admittedly he spent most his time in exclusion or traversing the fringes and beyond the borders of the Imperium.  He then saw it, a young traveler. He gave a short whistle and hid his head looking at the ground beckoning him over.

The person approached with curious caution at first, before getting a look at Fenris. "Uh-I-UH." the person stammered obviously recognizing him. "I know its starting to rain, but... I need your hoodie..." he said. The person looked at him with an even more dumb-founded expression if that was possible. "I'll pay for it..." He explained. "And don't tell anyone you saw me... I mean it..." though it might cause a commotion simply seeing the foreign dignitaries land, but Fen might be able to salvage this yet. He drew on the hoodie, and put it over his head obscuring his face with the shade provided. He handed the man thrice what the hoodie could possibly have been worth and saw him off. He recognized Herzogs ship and approached drawing the hood off so she could see who he was before drawing it back on.

"Indeed... I was actually ill-prepared, I knew the people of the Imperium were aware of us and who we were, but I did not realize the media was so... invested in our exploits, I underestimated my own fame..." he admittedly with a mockingly sheepish tone and a small shrug. Her immediate barrage of questions hit him as hard as anything he taken in a fight, leaving him reeling to answer them all.

"Uhhh...This is a fringe city, apparently under the control of Drustan, a fellow Primoris whom I have had little dealings with...  The people who live here are pioneers and pilgrims more or less, eking out a living and expanding beyond the Empires heart in order to strengthen its body..." he said looking at them. "I Have respect for them because they have given up a life of comfort and nigh guaranteed pleasant circumstances for the risk of death and poverty in order to bring more meaning to their lives..." speaking of them in a colorless tone. "I myself established an Outpost a fair distance North-West of here to add to a supportive network on our frontier. It had to deal with some very nasty characters initially but it seems we beat down whatever that faction was into submission, and thank God too, they were annoying as all hell..."

"As for the others... Those are the other 3 Primoris, meaning there are 4 in total, and we are the Wardens of the Empires Provinces which we all rule semi-autonomously answering only to the Emperor and Empress themselves..." he said pausing. "Who is Ontwen? And I just figured I might as well let it grow out? Do you like it?" he asked scratching his chin. Upon her answer of who Ontwen was, he did not exactly wait for her to comment on his growing beard but rather he smiled at her leaning forward a bit. "I supposed I would take you on a bit of a tour of the city, though I admit I myself do not know it that well... It should be fun no?" he asked. He jerked a head at her ship. "I arranged for accommodations for your escort, though I am surprised they are not tagging along, they are welcome to it, free-drinks and food." he said as he smiled slightly meeting her bright bronze gaze with his own.

Herzog felt the rain and had just begun to grimace at the impending drenching of all her clothing before Ontwen held a barrier over her head and near got himself snapped at— she’d thought he was going to very suddenly accost the Primoris or demand she board the ship again. Instead, an act of kindness that forced the Acolyte to remember that he was only doing his current duty and keeping her safe. He had all rights to be concernd and even annoyed. However—

“No, he must stay with the frigate. They will take to the sky and await my order to descend. I do not assume I will need a guardsman around a Primoris!” Small brown hands gently seized the parasol from Ontwen’s grip and she set about to approaching her foreign acquaintance and making an attempt to shield him from the moisture as well. Luckily, the exotic paladin wasn’t nearly as tall as the militant escort.

“You don’t think I’d remember your outpost, Fenris? You let me stay there with you nearly half a year prior. When I, ah….” she turned behind her and almost had to marvel at the glower the soldier was giving her. An exasperated gesture sent him back into the craft and red light would pour over the pair from the underside of the ship as it silently took off with a perfect vertical thrust. Now, she could rope slip a hand in the crook of his arm as if he were a proper escort; her other hand holding the water proof parasol. The bottoms of her silks might get wet, but, they weren’t in the damned Ziggurat. Soggy ankles could be a novelty!

“I do like it. The beard. You should grow a full one. In Maur Prima it is a mark of virility and aristocracy for a man or a Varian to have a lush beard. Honor too, since it is worn in our military as uniform.” She’d even reach out to scritch at the stiff hair on his chin before she was lead into an easy stride at his side. “I saw a little bit of one on two of the other men on the sign save for one with white hair like your ruler. He had no hair. Must be young.”

Soon, she found herself not enjoying the novelty of wet, cold and heavy fabric which had picked up plenty of debris brushing against her bare ankles and nice slippers. “Is there some place try we could patronize? A vehicle with escort? Or just….something overhead?’ She worried a little about coming off too high maintenance a conversation partner but the dampness really, truly was annoying.

The protective gesture was received as such, causing no sign to etch itself upon the face of the Primoris. "I'm sure you're guard would disagree..." he would say with a small fanged smile gazing upon the male. Fenris perhaps could have passed as one of their country-men, though the lighter shade might have been a tad bit rarer in their lands. It was to the Primoris' frequent detriment, or perhaps the detriment of others that he was both observant, and typically blunt unless the situation required a different approach.

He gave the Ontwen an apologetic, but slightly amused shrug. "Oh yes, forgive my lapse in memory... It seems somethings never change." he said making a small gesture at his head. He was something beyond any mortal, and yes simple trivialities and details could still be overlooked despite preternaturally keen perceptions. Her arm hooked into his with a familiar motion that had been absent before. She seemed more comfortable, and it almost caught him off guard. "Erm yes, I considered it before, and it does seem fitting does it not?" he asked before she caught him off guard again and scratched beneath his chin. "Erm, well for them I think they believe being 'clean-shaven' is more fitting for men of their station, in the greater Imperium it seems that such fashions hold a slight majority in popularity..."

He frowned. "My apologies, it did not occur to me your dress would be in such a state from a short walk, I was going to the rail station but I can hail a cab... Perhaps more practical attire might be more suiting... I suppose I failed to mention this city, though civilized does not hold the luxuries of the Ziggurat. It's honestly why I kind of like it..." he said as he ushered her with a small touch to her lower back under an awning. He kept the hood up and looked down not wanting to be recognized, which in his opinion might come across as slightly suspicious, especially since Herzog seemed perfectly happy to stand in the rain with him, though he knew she was in some discomfort. She did have a nice presence to her though, it was just something inherantly pleasent. He tilted his head at her and gave a small slanted grin that seemed almost curious. "Well its raining so the park is out of the question, there might be a museum, restaurants...?" there was a slightly questioning edge to his voice, he was not used to "entertaining" women.

He ordered a transport pick up via an interface he had in his belt. Within the span minutes a small shuttle gated several miles up from the city, if scanned by the citys security-systems it would certainly read as belonging to the Ultonis, to ensure it was not fired upon, though the fact it appeared via gateway should have been enough to prove as much. It was not a military-grade vehicle but a commercial transport that Fenris happened to keep on hand in his personal fleet simply because he liked having variety. The side of the door would open giving way to a ramp. Fenris would walk up, lifting her by her arm to allow her into the interior.

The walls were black, while large windows were heavily tinted. The seats were not leather but of something that looked less seamless, seemed to be made of interwoven fabrics patterned together to form a series of cushions. Lights were fixed on both sides of the ceiling, and on either side of the limo-like layout there were cabinets that had mechanisms to ensure they remained closed unless opened. There was also a view-screen, and even a table. The ramp closed, and it would rise vertically off the ground. "Do you wish to change then?" he asked with another tilted smile at her. He moved to get something from the cabinet. "So I can tell the Driver were to go." he explained after the fact as he poured himself something, the ride smooth as silk due to magnetic and gravitic inhibitors. He almost said he was not used to entertaining women in such a manner, but thought better of it. It did make him feel a bit unsure of himself though, a bit awkward.

Admittedly, she didnt care at all what Ontwen thought. Herzog might have been a well read scholar who’d been raised in a strict environment with plenty of rules, but, lately she’d been getting a bit more headstrong. Really, she resented having an escort in the first place! Surely enough Imperial priestesses were rare and protected nearly as much as the Empress Reagent and her handmaidens— it was a tough sell convincing them to let her get her feet a little wet since natural power to the point of sorcery was a bit of a rare power in the empire. And even if one had it that did not mean they were automatically suited for the various sects of power within the Black Sun. Much less the Imperial Order.

But, Herzog was still somewhat young and an acolyte. They were going to have a hell of a time convincing her to do nothing but sit in the corner, read and study her craft and be a good little sorceress for the Maur bloodline.

“So they prefer to be barefaced in Celesin? Interesting— I had looked upon the faces of your brothers in arms and only one of them was barefaced” She paused as he apologized for the lack of “luxury” and gave him a playfully cross look. “Remember, your Outpost! I care not for luxury once I leave the confines of Maur Prima, Fenris. I only want to experience. And you are kind enough to take me out”

That aside, sheltered youth and naivety aside she could plainly see he was having trouble figuring out what to do and seemed apologetic that he wasn’t entertaining her and that it was raining. It made her laugh a bit— “You think me bored, don’t you? Quite the opposite. I have a suggestion. Take me somewhere, anywhere— dry of course— and tell me about this city, your empire, your duties and those other men who wear the white cape and the lion at your breast.”

A pause and a shrug. “I think you will find it nearly impossible to bore me, Primoris. Acolytes of my order we….don’t get out much. You said something of museums? Well, imagine an OTO is so precious to the Empire that we may as well be one of those priceless, ancient artifacts in one. Guarded, gilded, doted on and never let out of the site of someone who is trained to die to see our lives spared.” it was then that she saw the transport pull up to the awning. It had come out of a gate— did Celesin have access to The Black or was this something else?

It couldnt be the Black. Herzog was tethered to it like every other matrix sorceress….the gate was something else. How interesting!

Naturally, she gazed from under the parasol as she approached the vehicle; cooing about the design and how different it was from the frigate she’d come in. They seemed to hover and accelerate with similar technology. She was beginning to see Celesin and the Black Sun as two sides of the same coin. Scholars would have much to chew on if they saw any of this— except the animosity of their nations nearly going to war might sully that.

“I’m sorry, “change”?’ she’d say to Fenris after sitting down and smoothing her silk layers and kaftan under her bottom. It was wet nearly to the knee up and made her lower legs wet, cold and uncomfortable. But was he suggesting he had clothes for her?

“Oh I...hrm. Well, I’ve never worn anything unlike what I have on now and sleeping gowns. But it may be prudent to change I...suppose.” A brief turn so she could see the ground escaping them out of the window if there was one.

"As for where to go, well, some place with your history."

Perhaps somehow if Herzogs more "strong-willed" nature in comparison to her previous bubbly-meekness was in context, Fenris would have known that typically when one was stifled, the moment they were given license they would "sprint" to the nearest whimsy. It had actually been something that he had worried about happening with Daul,  perhaps he still was, but he had already spoken to The Dra`Sin on this subject long ago, and he also knew such things had to take their course. This situation however was quite different, and even with his perception he was not entirely aware of such a subtle change, but it would not be long before he picked up on it most likely.

He smiled with fake "sheepishness" at her fakely cross look before responding. "To be honest I would think that most of the ALIS corps typically keep their face hidden for multiple reasons, while the Primoris typically have the luxury of not needing to do so... For practical and technical reasons tht would most likely bore you." as he spoke his head was slightly tilted and his gaze was upon her face as if studying her, but the ghost of a grin still played at the sides of his mouth, as one hand absently scratched his beard.

"I'm not sure how much I can tell you, and to be perfectly honest... I'm not a scribe, and probably the only non-native to be this high in the Imperium. I can discuss these things though of course, though perhaps I might need a firm hand to keep me on the subject..." he said leaning back a bit. "I'm sure I can find something in your size... Well..." truth be told he did not really have a stock of womans apparel handy, he could have some desk-jockey just buy out some high-end store, but he did not want to do that. "Hmm on the other hand...." it had never occured to him to simply dry her clothes. "I kind of like your apparel..."

He let loose a gentle hum that would reverberate through her clothing moving the moisture the garment and warming it slightly with a light tingling that would permeate the body for an instant before the sensation faded down to below her calves and was gone. A a bit of vapor would run off the cuffs of her sleeves and shoulders and ankles, and the area within the sky-carriage would get slightly more humid from the combined dispersal of liquid and evaporation. "Sorry if that caught you off guard... I don't know why that did not occur to me to begin with..."

The ground beneath them was filled with grey buildings of various sizes, people could be see, and even less advanced ground vehicles. There was a rainbow to the east that was fairly faint where the rain was least, between two arches on steepled buildings that looked older. "Hmm theres an old Lunar-Caste shrine I think, I don't think the Priests and Priestesses still use it, but it might be interesting, however there is a restaurant below it that gives a good view, we can eat there before visiting..." he told her. "I am a bit hungry aren't you? Though I must admit I do miss your lands cuisine, I might order some from that restaurant I bought last time I saw you..." he mentioned as he turned to look out his window.

"As for the Primoris? Well to start I've already told you I'm a bit of a general, governor, intelligence-director, all in one... All of us are though some of us have talents for different things... Regardless the Lions crest represents the Empire as it is the chosen symbol of the Empire. There is Daul the large silver-haired woman you saw, the Primoris Potentae or 'of power' " he continued. "Then Caden the Primoris Fulminis or 'of lightning'. Then there is Drustan the Primoris Ignis or 'of Fire' and there is me, the Primoris Ultonis... or 'of vengeance' not sure why they gave me the title... Kinda sounds ominous now that I think on it." he said with a shrug. "Typically you can gleam hints on our abilities and personalities based on the name on the name of our branch, and each of us controls our own separate branch of the military and our own province..." as he finished speaking they were nearing the restaurant and were getting ready to set down.
