{And I sit and I Splay}

Angelo :

There wasnt much to it within Nexxian City, really, just the sunny cloudless sky overhead and the noises that usually accompanied such a  place. As for Angelo, he sat accompanied by only himself upon the center of a bench somewhere, garbed in the usual arms splayed out, frame devoid of weapons and Iris the Netherhound for whatever reason, the spot somewhere between a park area and the main market/trade district within Nexxian City. His head was tilted back, brown eyes furrowed in the usual thoughtful expression he had when he was not at home or working, the two topics themselves causing the Confederate to sigh a bit and lean forward from where he sat, elbows on his knees, chin within the palms of his hands. He watched the people, outside and inside vehicles stroll by without a care in the world, adults, old people, kids, cops, soldiers, etc, they seemed limitless yet so few in number as it was, and all Angelo could do was sit there, look, and occasionally smile.

“...Hm.”

And thats all Angelo would say, could say at the moment as he huffed for no reason at all and leaned back again, beginning the ever audacious process of sprawling out as slow as possible for now, thoughts processing quickly, leaving, though of again and...the usual, what else could one say?

The Meeting. Empty Re: The Meeting.

Post by Khooey Sat Dec 13, 2014 10:36 pm

It had been some time since the Djinn had set foot in the city. Not since the Agency had been hired by Sophonax to root out the mysterious thieves in Redpoint. Since then her entire world had been readjusting to life back in Lu`Rae and thinking, seemingly always, about Caden. The Prince, the reformed playboy...she'd heard all the legends and had even been warned by a few Alis about him, but, they fell on deaf ears. He was dreamy, a prince (!!!) and of all the people he'd chosen to set his sights on? Little old Khooey.

The girl had it bad and though she hadn't even been once undressed around him he occupied a rather large allotment of space in her conscious thoughts. Some of it was fear-- that he was just wooing her for fun and playing her as much as all those other women in his past that she'd heard about but it certainly didn't seem that way. If you were playing someone for a fool or to pull a dine and dash on them one didn't stay with them on a ranch, wear clothes she knew were alien and maybe embarrassing for him, get those hands dirty, milk a cow and much more. A man who could have any woman he wanted less than half an hour after speaking to one wouldn't put this much effort into only lusting after someone, right? The Djinn, dressed in a black felted dress that flaired at the waist, red wool tights, suede winter boots and a heavy duty coat with a mink linked hood had been fretting about the cow and the comforting and all the time spent with the Dra`sin prince before she missed her step and took a tumble.

"Wh-! Shitfire...". Such a silly girl; she'd been in Nexxian picking up gifts for Christmas, Saturnalia and all the other holidays for the time that her friends celebrated-- all while mooning over Caden. She cursed herself and thanked the fates that she didnt scrape anything and set about picking up the gifts she'd spilled: a pocket watch, a stuffed toy, artisan chocolates and other sweets, a pretty turquoise ring for a friend and other baubles. She hadn't yet picked up anything for the Primoris Fulminis because, well, what to buy a man who already had everything? That conundrum had lead to the mooning about him which, in turn, led to taking a spill.

As luck would have it? This all happened directly across the street from the bench Angelo currently reclined on. Khooey would be unmistakable considering her appearance.

The Meeting. Empty Re: The Meeting.

{My third thought of the Holidays.}

Angelo:

A light 'oof' here and a 'grunt' or slighted cry of 'what?' was let out as Angelo sprawled where he sat, ears perking at each one and head eventually falling from its tilted position, looking ahead. The sight made him frown, to put it lightly, just because he wasnt sure if what he was seeing was there or not, a rub of his eyes once or twice and a blink made it so what was across from him was most certainly there. Still frowning, the tall man stood up, hands sticking in his pockets, pacing his way over to a cross street, crossing it when he was able and dodging this person and that. For once he was thankful the busy day disposition of the city going people being 'rude' as with much as Khooey had gotten and had dropped, without help, meant it'd be a minute or two before everything was picked up.

“Need some help, ma'am?”

A yes or no wouldnt matter as Angelo had bent his knee beforehand and had begun picking up a thing or two that fell behind the girl, stacking them in each arm and eventually when he got to a point were he thought everything was equal on each arm, he'd stand. A simple hello and helping might have been in mind but perhaps he was just waiting for the right moment, as odd as that was, and mayhaps banking on that a good eighty percent of the population of Nexxian had the same sort of a variant of his Southern laced accent, to not reveal him on the spot. Such a thing didnt matter in the long run of things though as Angelo stepped forward, off to Khooeys left side.

“Strong things like yourself are strong, but...items are always wanky when on arms, balance and strength need not apply since such objects do fuck all on their own whim for the hey of it.”

He had shut his eyes for a moment but they were half open now, a thin smile on the mans lips as said eyes trailed down to Khooey. Maybe he was just keen on being dramatic for once for the sake of a surprised happy greeting, one way or another, this way or that, only after he took his place would he finally 'greet' her.

“...You're...what now? Twenty one or two technically? Fuck if that matters anyway, its good to see ya, Khooey.”

The Meeting. Empty Re: The Meeting.

Khooey saw the hands assisting her in gathering the items. She put them back into as many bags and boxes as she could and had been too frantic checking them for damage to stop and notice who was helping her. The voice brought her, eventually, out of her fugue and once she had gathered as much as possible she stood and faced the stranger who wasn't. Immediately, she dropped everything in her arms and stared with wide eyes. Angelo hadn't surprised her as much as he'd hoped as, well, she'd heard the rumors and, in all fairness, she hadn't really processed it as truth until that moment. More items once again hit the concrete so she could hug her long time friend now literally back from the dead and smiling down at her. Even while she did so her confusion about the eternal vendetta against Bradley, who'd nearly killed her as well became immediately confusing.

"I mean, I heard y' were...I shoulda...oh...oh holy mother ah--" she stammered; finally disengaging from him and trying to get her words together with wild eyes and gestures. Angelo saved her by engaging her with questions. "Ayuh, m' twenty-one...jus' turnt three weeks ago" she'd say; still looking harried. "S'really good t' see y' too, Angie. Gawh y' ought to see Sophonad too, y'know. Man y' missed a lot?"

Khooey wondered if she should tell him all the yarns or that Bradley was certainly still around and where she'd gotten the new scar over her chest but where to start? "H-how long have ya....how did....how? S' hard to understan'. Not that bird doctor I hope..." a little ancient, still boiling anger for the Dottore simmered, albeit briefly. By no means had she forgotten what he'd taken from her in exchange for bringing her back.

The Meeting. Empty Re: The Meeting.

{Reaction.}

Angelo:

“I hope none of that is exceptionally expensive, my presence isnt worth that much...Urk.”

He should of expected it, given what he remembered of the girl, but the hug came and was returned, albeit at the expense of the items he held again, flinching a bit as they hit the ground Again, but it didnt matter as much as before. He returned the hug, one armed, patting her back, eyes shut for a second before opening, hearing her stammering words, head tilted smile broadening a bit.

“You werent the only one, and really, it was more on me to make my liveliness known to others.”

His eyes shut and he chuckled a bit.

“So I have to sets of gifts for one person, no biggie, no one'll probably get jealous anyhow.”

He began picking up the objects again, checking them, making sure no damage was to be held before standing, her questions making him frown, which deepened when the good Doctor was brought up.

“I'll say and leave it at this, as you surely know; some living beings are animals, some are people or have the whole 'process of thought' they evolved with. Some are a form of both or both at the same time and others...others...”

For a split second that frown was accompanied by a very haughty rage fueled sparkle in his brown eyes.

“...Others are just above all else Monsters, Khooey.”

His nostrils flared and as quickly as whole disposition had changed, it changed back again to 'normal' with a sigh.

“To answer you though, a good amount of months. Managed to set my self to a degree and fuck all things up like I usually do but in some way, despite my coming not being as wanted as you'd thing, I've been content...You staying anywhere or where you gonna take yer stuff some place? I'd hate for us to have yet another moment and drop it for the third time, for its and the peoples receiving such things sake rather then ours.”

Another smile, as genuine as it always was, that hadn't changed at least.

The Meeting. Empty Re: The Meeting.

Post by Khooey Mon Dec 22, 2014 1:03 am

“Oh s’alright, I don’ think I heard anythin’ break…” Khooey inwardly thanked him profusely for picking so much of it up and struggled to restrain it all into as many boxes and bags as possible.

“Well m’really glad y’ back. I tried t’…do right by ever’body y’ left behind, Angelo. I was gonna take care of it. Guess I don’t have to now!’” The Ifrit gave him a wan smile and then he began to explain about people being monsters. Angelo should have had an idea just how much she knew about such things. He knew what had happened to her and that it had even killed her. Both her death and her current status as living were his to credit. For just a moment she looked somber as some old memories came back. It wasn’t just the DeadEyes who had brutalized her along with Ashcroft, but, Ignis—who’s earthbending medallion hung somewhere on her person to this day to commemorate their final meeting and even some others. Somehow, she’d been through hell and back and yet her innocence, positivity and ability to empathize never seemed to take a scrape.
“I…I know.” She’d say. But within moments her smile returned; brightness in middle and contrasting of her smooth, dusky skin. “I’m stayin’ in Lu’rae. I dunno if y’ know but I went from jus’ being trained by Fenris to bein’ his real Legatus. But I got reassigned t’ Caden a few weeks back.” She’d turn and walk at a slow pace; assuming he’d follow her. “I’m jus’ here in town t’ try an’ get everybody somethin’ nice! It’s hard work. I don’t know what t’ get for…for Caden though. Maybe y’ can help me? What do y’ get a man who’s got everythin’? More money’n God an’ whatnot?” A pause. “Got one more store t’ try an see what strikes my fancy for him. I’ll get your opinion on some things, maybe? I need a man's eye. I wanna do this right.”

And for all that he had gift giving was special enough to Khooey that it wasn’t something she could just let go. The Winter solstice and it’s traditions were important to the Redpointe girls! As were decorating some of the evergreens around the grounds, having an enormous one in the main house that they chopped down, hauled in and gilded all on their own and lastly, the feast. That was coming soon!

“Oh! Oh man, Sophie’ll be surprised t’ see you! We’re having a Solstice feast in three days at th’ main house. Ya ought t’ come, Angelo!” Just as she was beaming up and him and hoping he’d RSVP, they were opening the doors to the shop in question. It was rather high caste; a small department store for men with jewelry, watches and even suits tailored on site.

The Meeting. Empty Re: The Meeting.

Post by War Torn Mon Dec 22, 2014 2:31 am

{Serves.}

Angelo:

He nodded. Of course he knew she did, but it was matter he had yet to get over or if he was sure he'd ever get over, really. Scars were scars imprinted and written in ones skin after. But that was that, the holidays were upon them and if anything, Angelo was one to shove such things aside for the sake of being. He followed her of course, not yet being run down to 'sidewalk robber' or some other form of delinquent.

"Doesnt surprise me, why'd you think I gave you that gun I made you, huh? Wasnt just for show, I'm sure you knew that much. A woman carries a rifle with her and moves on, its natural that a handgun should coincide with it and, to stop being so cryptic or poetic, some higher sort of position is what I expected of you Khooey. That and marriage, but if I deduce and look things right, what I read and saw in the headline of Jophiels Duchessness, and how most of every other sentence involves this Caden fellow, I'm not to far from the branch."

What does a man who has 'everything' need or want? Well, Angelo could think of a few things, things that made him smirk a tad bit but he kept such things to himself. Lewdness and stuff, he didnt think that humor had broken in on Khooey so he left that to his mind.

"IF you are unsure of what to get, dont get it, make it, Khooey. Theres nothing more, even in the simplest of trinkets, one can find stunning then the reaction of another when they receive something you've made them with your own hands. The effort, the care (clumsy or not) and the very thought is enough to, if anything, make another smile...as you yourself know, right? But I'm ahead of myself, yes, I shall make such an opinion on things regardless."

Then there was the lion in the room that made him flinch and frown.

"...I'd like to, but given what I did, what I caused Khooey, I dunno. I think that surprise of Sophonox wont be in me being alive or being there, more like how she hadnt gotten her rifle or handgun out to shoot me quicker. With good reason enough to."

Getting someone, a someone you had cared for for a while, killed tended to do that for people or so Angelo thought, whether you revived them or not.

"...None the less, I'm...having my own little party on the twenty-seventh myself. Been practicing the piano and learning how to sing, called in a few favors and I've frozen a few things I've hunted as of late. Desert birds and dragons, plan to make a few recipes from home. Called in a few favors to, got a nice big ol Tavern, its workers, and the inside/outside space for it all. You and whoever you want to invite are, well, of course invited if you wish to come. Mostly invited a few friends so far, Sune, Ed, Fenris...Trying to heft the load I suppose, in terms of people."

First time, first opportunity to even do so, he wanted people to be there, he wanted to see, shake hands, laugh loudly, smack backs, resolve and potentially cause conflict. Such was such and he longed for it, really, given certain events and, well, twas the season.

The Meeting. Empty Re: The Meeting.

Post by Khooey Mon Dec 22, 2014 10:36 am

The little Djinn hadn't seen anything wrong with asking the stuffy looking man behind the counter to keep an eye on her things. Most were willing to do as such in grocery stores and market stands, so why not here? Khooey hardly noticed his upper crust rage as he obliged and she thanked him profusely before joining the Confederate once again. The fellow behind the counter scowled at her as she walked away. Angelo began speaking and she immediately grimaced.

“God, is it that obvious? I'm....sorry. It's a kinda new deal? Y'know? I'm jus' feelin' it out. An' I really like 'im. I'd like it t' go somewhere.” She made a promise she was going to tuck it inand stop blathering about Caden, Caden, Caden. Mooning over someone in certain company was frowned upon. Just as she was picking up a watch that cost entirely too much money (that Caden could have bought twenty of without blinking and not needed to check any of his accounts) and nearly cried her friend said something that might work, after all.

“M-make something? Well I thought 'bout doin' that but seems so damned uncool” Meaning, maybe, she was trying to be something she wasn't since the Prince was, well, him and in the end she was still a sheltered Redpointe Gal who just happened to be a prodigy with weapons...and an Ifrit. “I can crochet an' wire wrap. There's all kinds o' rare earth an' precious stones on the Ranch. Some supplies. Can carve a little.” And it was seeming more and more like he had the right idea as, well, some of the things in this shop could have financed feeding everyone at Redpoint and Søren
for quite some time. “..I think you're right. I'm gonna make somethin'.”

Just as she was gathering her other items from the cashier, ne...concierge of the till (and becoming guilty enough by his expression alone that she purchased one of the overpriced boxed of fine chocolates on display at the counter) she had to turn and give Angelo a funny look. “Y'know I don't think y' really understand Sophonax. She ain' never gave any sign she holds that against you. But I'll definitely come t' your get-to-gather if y' not comfortable aroun' Sophie thanks t' all that old hullabaloo”

“Maybe I'll bring Rose. Realized I kinda left some of th' other girls in th' dust when I set out. Got to start getting Jaylee, Rose, Gretel and Whinnie off th' property sometime. Let 'em see the world. Would you mind?”

The Meeting. Empty Re: The Meeting.

Post by War Torn Mon Dec 22, 2014 5:48 pm

{Mayhaps I was wrong}

Angelo:

Even if it wasnt meant to be humorous, Angelo found it so, chuckling a bit. The awkwardness of it all, the slight blubbering, it was cute really. To keep dignity and not incidentally insult the girl, he just kept such feelings to himself. However when he heard making something was potentially uncool, he frowned a bit and lifted a (bag carrying/full) arm and waged his finger.

"However you came to that conclusion, whether by your own means or by someone saying so is wrong...I mean, not to bring it up again, but that little blue colt I made for you I like to think, if not making you stooked, was appreciated and such, simply on the basis ya wore it around."

But had not used it, yet, which he wasnt sure. Regardless, she came around and he smiled brightly, nodding, before his brow raised at the statement on Sophonox.

"You're right I dont, sadly. I only met her once after all and that just before that mess. Dunno, if I'm wrong I'm wrong and I'll gladly come...maybe play a tune if you have a piano. Pardon me and my assumptions, I usually assume the worse of stuff and I've assumed I'd be outright chastised from Redpointe for, well, since before I died, really."

The statement was made for dramatics, its just what he thought on the subject as a whole, but wrong was wrong, ignorance or not.

"Hell, bring your girls, bring your boys, bring your Celesins and others. Are any of those young ladies one of the ones I saw you with when we first 'met'? Curious because I remember first meeting you when you and a friend were tipsy and such, but regardless...Dont matter to me, I'm a social buggart at heart, if you couldnt tell. Are any of those young ladies one of the ones I saw you with when we first 'met'?"

And if there was one skill he had, above all else, outside of guns, it had to be such interractions and coordinating them well, right? Right...maybe. He sighed a bit, contently, a thought crossing his mind that made his eyes turn this way and that before he sighed.

"...You know, theres something I've been wanting to say to you for a while, honestly, even before I went and got my neck sliced."

Cryptic, sullen sounding, but he let that stay. Might as well say it now since they were both there.

"I've still got that Colt, you know. I jus' don't wear it ever'where now. Doesn't have a home on th' uniform, but, still such a keepsake" Now, they could leave the shop and were back on the streets of Nexxian again. In the distance she could see tiny figures all over the wall: Alis, all of them. Mostly Ultonis and Potentiae as far as she could remember and one Fulminis who was, of course, Tera Tyne. Khooey got lost in thought while walking and wondered if there were Ignis there as well until Angelo spoke up again.

"We sure do got a piano. A baby Grand, at that. So if y' come, you done made a promise, haven't you?" she laughed, hoisted the items she still carried that Angelo hadn't taken for her and fell into a walk at an easy pace. "If y' mean the ranch girls it depends. Since then some've struck out on their own. Rose an' Whinnie stayed though." And now, all of a sudden Angelo had gotten mighty serious on her. So, she'd halt her trek at the next street corner and cocked her head at his sigh. What could this possibly be about?

"Somethin' y' wanna say? Oh....I hope I 'ent done anythin' wrong by you?" And if her hands werent full she'd have been biting her nails. When people got all mysterious and serious they always dropped bombs, so, why wouldn't she be nervous?

The Meeting. Empty Re: The Meeting.

Post by War Torn Tue Dec 23, 2014 9:58 pm

{Admittance.}

Angelo:

"If you're as good with a rifle as I think you are, you'll be good with it then."

Meaning the colt, and he did follow, head tilting this way and that, looking at the festives and shops himself, oddly enough, eyes tracing to metallurgy shops and crafts and all that junk. Curious but it was for intent, that just couldnt be done now! He smiled though at the piano comment and if he came.

"I've been self teaching myself to certain songs, I'm not perfectly on key with the singing, though before I got a book to learn, I one particular song on the piano but...that."

He lifted a bag carrying hand to that then shut his eyes. Serious time, ok...well not so much but, he'd tilt his head right then left then sighed, leaning against a wall. Might as well get comfortable, eh?

"...I was actually going to tell you this last I saw you, before that alien mutant thing attacked Fenris right in front of our faces so I figured, since we're both here, no prying eyes or words to quip in I'd just say now..."

His eyes opened and he looked up into heres, head bowed down a bit, overall disposition a bit sullen.

"I...was so damn glad to see you alive when I did back then, Khooey. That bastard told me he did bring you to life but...but I was always unsure. Right at the last moment, right before the whole deal was sealed and slapped in, right as I was trusting him to do all and lose what I should of lost, he up and vanished with...'you'."

Meaning her remains, or what he could gather after the whole mess with the Dead Eyes. He inhaled a breath of air, finding this all difficult to say and not wanting to annerve the woman before him but he tredded on, exhaling as he did.

"So, for months on end I go about the Nexxus doing...fuck all, its all a big blur really, I probably drank or fought seventy percent of my time away and quite suddenly, he appears again, said you were alive again and...said he came to collect his payment. But what does he do? He mocks me, he throws it in my face and says someone you know, I think your dad, took what was supposed to be MY sins, my payment, my atonement for all of it. Theres only been one time in my life I've ever been so angry so...livid at it all, but it was what it was and if anything, the main point of it was you were alive, but I...I dont know. Your nice to me, we're friends, its good and I'm happy for it, I'm so damn happy to see you alive after it all but...All I did during that was cause suffering and make mistakes and whatever fuck-up you can imagine and I never got to take responsibility for it, I never could and that just...feels wrong to me..."

And it had been buried in the back of his skull for a long long time. He knew it was not the best of seasons or times to bring it up, past was past, time was time and things were good for once, but some things never healed and some things just kept aching.

"...I mean this was all made worse by the fact that, pardon the oddness of saying this buttt...When I first met you, I hadn't thought of home for over twenty damn years. It was lost to me, painfully, to tell you truthfully, but the second I heard that voice of yours, the twang, the sound, then got to know and meet you in general...it all just sorta rushed back and reminded of before those specific times, it reminded me of Home, Khooey. I wont lie, and I know it counts for nothing now on either of our parts, but I was at one point thinking of asking you to step on a date or two with me, but yeah."

His head turned and a hand came up to rub the side of his face, stepping forward once, a sort of placid '...I just said all that, sorry' look on his face.

"I er...know I probably just talked your ear off. Probably made things ten times more awkward but I just...wanted to be honest with you, about most if not anything...Dunno, I can carry this for a while longer if you want but if you wanted to part, yeah, I can carry it to where yer going home from."

And he wouldnt blame her in the slightest, really. That was quite a few anvils he just dropped, after all.

The Meeting. Empty Re: The Meeting.

Post by Khooey Wed Dec 24, 2014 12:13 am

“Well, I'm a crackshot if y'ought to know. Heh, I mean....aint tootin' my horn, I promise but I aint never been able to miss with a projectile weapon. Ain't bad with a blade, either. I honed a lot o' skills while y' been gone. Y' wouldn't believe it, Angelo. I'm jus' about proficient at takin' care o' myself an I got you passin' that little bit of agency to me in th' form of a Colt 45 to thank for it. Struck out on my own, got Fenris to teach me t' fight...still learnin'. Didn't know I had it in me!” To think she was worried she sounded smug and full of herself when in reality she was a weapons prodigy, as her Celesin peers had found out, much to their shock.  so shortly after they began to train to. They'd expected it to be a big joke, honestly, and that the plush, certainly not so athletic Djinn would quit after a few days but might at least know how to defend herself a bit better next time trouble came around. How surprised they had been. Now, she listened to him and nodded here and there and then her eyes went wide.

Dates? He'd wanted to date her?

“Hell's bells. I....oh well, gosh why didn't ya say anythin'? I'd have gone on a date with you, Angelo. I mean, y' always been a gentleman to me.” she'd say; cocking her heart shaped face at him while he stumbled over the words and eventually finished delivering them. It occurred to her that he was also saying he'd had a thing for her before. Of course Khooey was eternally oblivious and had never once picked up on anything like that.  “Guess m'flattered. Y'know I back in those times I thought nobody'd ever really love me, y'know? Too different, too weird lookin'...maybe too weak, too.” Which was a heavy admittance on her part as well. But there was some pride to it: she wasn't too weak anymore. So, she'd change the subject since he looked to be wanting to hop out of his shoes over it.

“So....what's y'home like if they kinda talk like me?” she'd ask. Of course her accent was the Appalachian to his Deep South; similar but not quite the same and yet an untrained ear might mistake both for the same were they to hear them side by side. “And ain't nothin' ever wrong with honesty, Angelo. It is an' always will be refreshin', but, I gotta say y' look kinda bothered about more'n some old plans for dates an' things getting' in the way. Maybe weighed down by somethin'? Or, you know, I could be talkin' out the side of my neck but I like t' think I'm keener these days. If y' wanna tell me about anythin' you can while walkin' me back t' my horse. Got Vierge tethered in an alley nonetoofar from that detective agency.”

Angelo:

"I do believe it actually. Like I said, I gave that gun to you for a reason. Present obviously, that and a rifleman or woman needs a side arm and...Well, I guess I might've just thought, knew you werent all distress and such. As much as I respected the people you knew and lived with, Soph, Fen, all of them for the longest time they seemed to want to Shelter you rather then just help out and make stronger or fit for the world."

OR so he observed, then again he didnt know the whole story but in some ways she didnt either.

"You give yourself, or you used to not give yourself credit, Khooey. Even if you did look odd or were to different, which you werent, wont be, and never shall be, your personality, your self of being was...how I do put this...Bright. And as I said, you were never really weak, ever just, if anything a bit to sheltered and people thinking otherwise...And if its an excuse, probably isnt, I honestly thought you were with someone even back then."

He chuckled a bit and kept the smile for a moment while thinking about home.

"...This city wasnt always just a city, you know. Before the Shuinsais to-...Came to power
here, it was a large desert and mountain country/ Hard fixed, always fighting the mountains and desert but always living. It wasnt always just one city and it was. No country is ever perfect but for what it was when it still existed before being devolved to this, with all its peoples, with all the ones I knew, it was near perfect to me, the Confederate Empire was."

His head turned to eye her at the next thing.

"Well, if you didnt just realize it, I just said something thats been on my mind for a long while. Something I'm not sure I can get over and I was admittedly afraid what I said would come off wrong, would make you wanna run off from me."

He could of left it at that, really. It made sense, and all that but something told him otherwise. His face hardened at that moment and he looked forward.

"...When I first 'woke up' from being dead, I wasnt actually out and about. I wont get into details but I was trapped and locked off somewhere and from some cruel sense of humor on the bastard who did it to me; the first things I saw, repeatedly, were my Grandfather Crucified and bound in a way he couldnt escape and bled to death, my son El having chunks of his inner body missing and at one point, making him so weak he just died and my littlest, Zeal, find my Grandad and Son and curling up to El. He didnt know what to do, I dont know how long he laid there but he died of starvation in Els arms."

He kept looking ahead, hard faced, following her, bags in hand, eerily silent at that moment.

The Meeting. Empty Re: The Meeting.

Khooey had to agree with him on the sheltered bit after looking bashful at his compliments about her personality and skill. It was another ten minutes of walking until they'd reach Vierge, so, she listened and spoke when he paused. "Well y'got that right. Honestly Sophie an' Daddy they still might wanna shelter me a lil bit, but, I think they get it now. Bird can't stay in the egg forever, kennit? So for once when I set out th' last time with Fenris nobody tried t' stop me or yank me back home. Meant a lot to me. So I give 'em some credit."

Now, she heard him talk about the Shuinsais and knew he must have meant Jophiel. That was her last name, and, she assumed the tall man with black and white hair must have been the other since he announced her new title and familial status as his niece at the masquerade. She'd only interript him to make a confirmation. "Oh, y'mean Miss Jophiel? She's nice." So to speak. She'd been in need of company while staying at Redpoint and had spent a night or two confiding in Khooey for a few hours-- about Daul no less. Honestly, she was still giddy at the thought and anxious about the secret she was keeping for the Duchess. Wasn't girl talk, fun?

And then, they stopped walking and he dropped the real anvils about his family. "Oh my...oh my god..." she'd say; tears immediately welling up in her eyes. It wasn't simply being sensitive and painfully empathetic as she was known to be, but, the fact that she'd known those kids as well along with meeting their cantankerous grandfather more than a few times. For the second time that night she dropped all of her purchases and threw her arms around the Confederate.

"I feel so bad for askin' hon, I'm so sorry...I didn't know y'lost them all..." she'd say; honest shock in her voice along with grief. Zeal had been so small and she'd worried often that El was becoming too cynical a lad for all that was happening to him but wondered often how she, via her resources could try and make his life better. Now they were all gone and had died horrible deaths? It was too much to handle.

"Jesus Jones that is...no wonder. I don't know what to say but I'm sorry again. You must still be grievin''

{Grief}

Angelo:

For the first time during all this he just listened rather then speak completely. It was a minute minor thing to most but for those that knew Angelo, they knew with each statement a person made he tried to address all of them until they needn't be addressed anymore. Such a thing was common, normal for Angelo, its what one expected of him and to see or hear otherwise wasnt right, wasnt normal. Coupled with the firm face that just looked forward, even at the hug and it was all something else altogether. Something awful.

"I've been trying to keep my head on since I came back. I took what little good was left in my old house out North and burnt it down and...that 'grave' of mine, it just dissolved and...flew into me. I wasnt trying to forget everything, but like everything else I was trying to move on. I dunno if I can or cant this time. I'm finding it more difficult then normal."

His eyes turned to look down at her again then up.

"I dont really know anymore, honestly. Me coming back...Its good to see everyone, know they are alive and well and running amok, but every turn I seem to run into something else. That chaos monster Vivi who wants to destroy me, Arcerion swearing me to fight him for my life to help protect this place, I dunno. Its all heavy, its all there I'm just...not to sure anymore. Things have changed for better and worse and here I am, feeling stuck and unsure."

His eyes shut and for a second one of his arms was around her, then...off, one hand coming up and wiping a tear or two away from her speaking if they came if not.

"...Winters not the time for tears, Summer is though, or so the saying goes."

He looked up, kept that frown on but saw the Agency. They'd moved more then either knew, or perhaps they were just closer then they thought. He sighed, gradually disengaged from her hug and stood beside her again, having somehow kept the bags around him during all this.

"We're near the Agency, didnt you say yer horse was there? I'm...working there again to, by the way. Just...some ambassador position, note pushed, and work finder. I'm not sure if it counts for anything, you being in the position yer in but...If you need anything, doors always open, in and out of office."
