Sillent:

{When theres a fence, dont go through it on the get go.}

As the line above says, do that. Unless you are sure there are no hazards and a place is abandoned, then go in, but this wasnt one of those cases. Nope, not at all. There was a beaten path as one could assume, and in the dead of Winter, it was followed by a man. A old man at that. He wasnt alone, or no, there was a small entourage of old man, young man, young boy, and family hound, half were at a makeshift 'camp', and about half of them were at the mentioned gate.

Every ranch of sorts had a gate or entrance, but one Sillent Xavier Zerephan wasnt one to push his luck, given who he was and what his name meant, what it could evoke. It was the reason he stood right outside of the ranch itself, gripping one of the gates bars and looking over. He wasnt going to risk getting harried, yelled at, etc, not for this, no. Behind him was both a trump card and someone who needed to be here for this, like his Great Grandfather.

El Tentazoin Zerephan tilted his head up a bit, half upnodding to Sillent and half sniffing the air. A highly biologically trained nose sniffed things out in the cold wind and he suddenly shifted his head back into place and nodded. Sillent nodded in turned and turned his head around, looking outward over the large Ranchland. A frown was on his face, like always.

“Good to know.”

Muttered. The two waited for someone for now. Simple as that. Bravado was not needed or wanted her, especially considering such 'delicacy' that was involved in the matter.

“There a buzz comm or somethin'?”

Said El. Sillent looked about for a half moment before shrugging. Directions were nice but details for cautions were never given, aw well.

Rose was also doing as Rose usually does— it was an unusually temperate day for the season. There was only a little snowpack on the ground and they’d gotten to a temp ten or more degrees above the freezing point. Ciello wasn’t alone in keeping an eye on a few little bairns: one of two of the ranch wards were doing crafts on the ranch house’s wraparound porch; spilling glitter and cheap school-tier glue all over the old and sturdy cedarwood. It would be easy to clean, but, that didn’t make it  any less irritating.

Just as Rose was beginning to go into an old timey internal rant about how much she hated children but was surely a saint to put up with them she recalled that she had one of her own. Old habits die hard and especially for naturally insular and possibly even hateful people. But no bone in her body could drudge up the slightest bit of hatred for Odine, only three months old, who lay in a bassinet next to the near ancient rocking chair the willowy femme had seized. Every now and then Rose checked per instinct on her child’s well being— looking over her honey brown skin and her crown of lighter strawberry blond hair providing an exotic contrast.

The half Djinn or ‘Nepenthe’, a unique  species born specifically of a full blooded Siila Djinn and one of the Fae (or related), was also keeping an eye on Ciello and her boys. Something about the small woman put her off. She was a bit strange but nothing anymore offputting than what she’d seen pass through these lands a thousand times. But it was more like the woman just wasn’t wired the same as anyone she’d ever met before. She reminded her of an animal— and not a domesticated one. And yet, she was also often prim and as fascinating as she was dainty. Sophonax, bafflingly, seemed to love her.

While Rose had her issues which children, Ciello seemed to play with them more like kittens here and there. Where did she go in those long spells? Was it because she didnt care or just that she understood and trusted that the denizens of the Redpointe compound would make sure her boys were well taken care of?

As there were acres of cleared land between the ranch home and the beginning of the wild, confiferous woodlands and behind them, the Taiga, it wasn’t difficult to keep a little bit of an eye on the quartet and if not visually, the wards would track their every move. Rose, born into the relevant bloodline to be in tune with them simply tracked them mentally and spacially; the light behind her eyes flashing with images of them every time they passed one of the Conduits or breached one of the harmless wards.

Until two people unfamiliar to them also breached one of the wards. “Gwenna! Bring the 30.0.6. Got comp’ny. Shit. Com-Pan-Ee Rose was every bit Sophonax’s daughter by blood and yet seemed mortified every time her natural twang came out. It wasn’t as strong as the Matron’s but she couldnt sit on it successfully at all times.

A bit of skittering inside of the house before a small, deathly pale person of questionable gender but obviously beauty and delicacy nearly stumbled out of the front door. Rose tied dark hair that shone like a gasoline puddle into knot, instructed the two girls still on the porch to mind their manners and yell at her if Odine began to sound off and took off for the stables. Both she and Gwenna made it to the stables in quick time, set their saddles and loaded their shooters before taking off toward the pines.

There was indeed a beaten path leading up to the ranch and only those truly in the know knew how to find it. But security was never something to be taken lightly with so many resources, good hunting, service animals and vulnerable souls concentrated in one place.

The old man and a much younger fellow were greeted at the gate by what looked like two young women on horseback (they might have to do a double take at Gwenna and their confusing bonestructure and wispy, soft silver hair), the one addressing them the spitting image of a young Sophonax with wide pale platinum irises that were a touch too large for proportion. As if a different animals eyes had been introduced into her skull.

“Howdy there. Help y’a—….you all?” she’d say; not brandishing the 30.0.6 special but holding it easily over her lap. “You come up this far and don’t get lost, means you knew where you were headed." All this from the back of the Equus Helios, the black and horned over-sized warhorses that even Celesin had been impressed enough with to purchase for each of their weird warlord space knights.

Rose was less impressive with muddy feet and shins, an old indigo prairie skirt and a camisole stained with baby refuse. "If you're looking for the Matron, she ain't here. 'Per usual."

Sillent:

{Meetings first.}

It didnt take long, thankfully. Sillents head tilted and he squinted at the approaching entourage. El stepped forward, removing his glasses in the process and putting them in his dress coat. For a second Sillent tilted his head to El.

“She isnt.”

Sillent nodded and turned back, just as Rose and co encroached and spoke. Sillent nodded and stepped back, clearing his voice. Said voice was gruff to say the least, steely, but not hostile in the slightest.

“You'd be right, and we dont mean or intend any harm.”

Always get that out of the way first, especially when it came to being noticed on the spot and warhorses which werent the average. A brief glance was given to the Redpointe specialty beasts before  Sillent continued.

“We're aware, or were guided here to find one Ciello Regallo, might go by Tier as well. We took a map drawn from Nexxian City to here and well...”

His head turned to El, who had taken the time to slowly pace forward, hands in his pockets, eyes moving from Rose, her accomplice then back to rose. Els voice was strangely soft yet pitched high enough to hear, and his eyes held a strange sort of constant neutral-feeling to them.

“...To blunt, we're here to get my half-sister and brothers and give miss Tier an offer she can either refuse or accept.”

El bowed his head lightly, putting an arm across his chest respectfully while Sillent crossed his arms eying the boy.

“I'm El Tentazoine Zerephan, and this is my great Grandfather Sillent Xavier Zerephan and, with all due respect to miss Tier, and despite the wrong my father has done...”

Sillent made a 'Tch' sound but kept quiet.

“...We believe it is in our, my siblings best interest, if we looked after and raised them, ma'am. I dont suppose you'll let us speak to miss Tier, will you?”

First, she turned her somewhat alien gaze to the older man. He was the first to speak after all and she imagined he, by way of age, carried more authority than the other. Perhaps they were related? Father or grandfather and a younger one. Rose would find out momentarily that not only had she guessed correctly but per introduction they were directly related to Ciello or at least her children were— this solved the mystery she’d pondered several times of why their names seemed to roll like eggs. Kids named after elders often had to deal with such things.

“No harm. Good way to start. I'm Rose NaGig. This is Gwenna Linderly.” spoke the brown skinned femme of the pair; seemingly unashamed of her dirty feet and clothes. Who cared, it was Redpoint! And the younger fellow looked like he had a few years to catch up with her anyhow. “Nexxian, you say? That city in the desert? Hunh...well we’ve had quite a few of you sort of here. Fellow named Edwin or somesuch. Blond, I think? Then A Sunny, maybe a Jodie? It was from half a year back. But I’m familiar. Friends of Khooey came to assist us with hostiles.”

Both women would tense as if by instinct as the younger of the pair came forward without being invited. Sure, they were armed and atop the biggest and strangest horses the visitors had likely ever seen— when they exhaled a touch of blackened steam existed from their muzzles and their eyes were solid red— and yet it was plainly obvious they were well guarded for a reason. Very few menfolk were allowed in these parts unless they had certain natural immunities and could be trusted. the safety of the wards and the young women was too precious.

El would find himself studied intensely by Rose and Gwenna only stayed alert in the backround; turning constantly toward the location she knew the strange mother and her litter to be.

“Those chil’ren are wards of Redpointe. Mamma comes ‘round now and then to sorta...look ‘em over. Spend some time with ‘em I guess. Unfortunately I’m not the Matron— just her daughter. I’m in charge but that doesn’t mean I’m authorized to let two men I’ve never met take kids from us.” Her tone wasn’t hostile or raised, but it was frank and to the point.

“But we’re not the Mamma. She’s around. If she accepts you’ll leave with the kids and we’ll rent you a wagon. Can’t let you take the vulnerable back down the pines on foot. If she doesn’t, I can’t help you and you’ll have to be on your way.” No nonsense. Much as Rose groused about having to take care of any kids not her own she was gifted with the same dyed-in-the-wool protectiveness of all the adult (or close to it) young women of the compound.

A nut brown hand steadied and tugged the reins before she clicked from behind her teeth and turned her steed, Syzygy, around and took a slow, easy trot past the gates and into the pines. Gwenna followed, her much younger filly ‘Lark’ just behind her. For being such intimidating animals meant for war and more they were easily trained and well behaved when reared by their kind. They’d only have to go so many meters before they’d come upon the glade where Ciello and the children were having their time of things. Rose knit her brows; witnessing one child’s mouth being covered in a way that certainly negated all maternal instinct. Goodness, if she was ever caught doing that to Odine…

“Miss Ciello? Got some fellas here say they want to talk to you. Say they’re the grandaddy and son of the babies’ father?” Though it hadn’t become clear to her yet who the father had been and what apparent “wrong” he had done.

Sillent:

{Fathers and Sons}

“Fair enough.”

Both Sillent and El said the words.

“Much appreciated miss NaGig, Linderly.”

Said El, to which Sillent simply nodded, raising an respectful hand before following in line. It wasnt so much as one led the other, it was more one was constantly teaching and guiding (IE, Sillent) while the other was learning and gradually picking up the best he could and acting with what he had learned (IE, El). One might think with how El conducted himself and how Sillent let him speak diplomatically the boy was on the right track, and he was, but there was plenty to learn.

“I dont suppose you mind if miss Tier says no if we like, camp on the outskirts of here until your Matron gets back to ask her, do you moss Nagis.”

Said El, who made Sillent cringe a bit at that. It was a good question but one that should have been asked after the fact, not in a measure  of slight desperation that Sillent hinted. Mind you it was a good question but one that shouldnt have been asked so soon. Regardless the two fell in line, passing each other a glance before moving  on. It wouldnt take long, Sillent could hear the faint sounds of some of the childrens wailings, which made Sillent frown. Not at the sound of that but at a thought, his head turned to El.

“Stay calm and dont do anything dumb.”

It took Sillent less then a second he needed to say that. If El had anything on him it was his sensory abilities. Better ears, smell, a few other little things, which meant he could hear the little wails the kids let up. Ears twitching, a slight sniffing of his nose told him that, as did a twitching lip from El, a sort of pang, which was immediately offset by a flinch due to Sillents words. A glance was exchanged and they nodded. Could be a problem, to Sillents mind. Eventually destination was reached, in near no time at all, an awkward sort of pause commencing as El cleared his voiced and stepped forward (if allowed) Sillent following suit but only for a few feet while letting El step forward.

It was hard for the boy to contain himself, even if she did scream, Meryl that is. He saw the fussy little brunette on Ciels chest, fighting helplessly and a sniff of the air brought his sights first to the 'favored son' Sillent, then to the almost ignored looking Angelo. For a second, briefly, the blonde boy smiled, inhaling a breath of air before exhaling, turning to Ciel.

“Miss Tier, I'm...Er, what?”

Thought out words were about to be spoken but that statement, 'You are dead' caught El off guard completely. Mostly because, despite what it was truly for, it did hold some indirect merit as El had previously been dead for a time. Regardless, he caught himself, clearing his voice again.

“Beg your pardon but um...I'm El Tentazoine Zerephan and thats my Great-Grandad, Sillent Xavier Zerephan...”

A awkward pause as the boy frowned again. Sillently shut his eyes inwardly sighing. Getting off to a 'perfect start' so far.

A tilt of her skull as the small woman held her own child to her chest as if she was handling an enormous Yuletide ham. It made Rose suck her teeth— but there was a reason the children were wards and their mother was a visitor as she seemed to understand that there were people far more apt to care for her offspring properly. If anything, she respected that Ciello seemed aware enough of how important it was to keep children safe, loved and fed to choose to put them into external care.

Now, she knit her brows at Ciello saying someone was ‘dead’ and turned back to look at who she had been gazing at and levying such a strange and obviously untrue accusation. Of course, her eyes fell on El. “Looks lively and right damned spry to me, Miss Regalo. Just seems to take after his daddy far as I’m figuring.”

As things already seemed to be going toward a theme of the tense and strange, Rose looked down by instinct to make sure her rifle to make sure it was good to go if she might have to defuse a situation. Then, she was addressed and asked a rather imposing question.

“Camp here? Well...a mother’s word is law. We have cabins up the way about two miles from the main compound. You can stay there but its likely Sophonax will defer to the Mam’s decision. As otherwise, they are still wards under our care.”

They were already imposing themselves onto Redpoint hospitality. Not a good sign. It became readily apparent to Rose that they were deadset on taking their kin home as much as the Redpoint policy but any present mother above someone claiming blood relation. It had happened before. And sometimes, it got ugly.

Rose huffed and then turned her gaze back to Gwenna looking irritated and not needing to utter a word toward facilitating the communication between them. Dismounting would take away her advantage and so she remained atop the Equus Helios as it stomped a bit and gashed the cold ground with its three-pronged hooves, more wolf like than equine, out of agitation. Its long and glossy inken tail mane lashed back and forth.

“Miss Regalo, these gentleman here— they’re the daddy’s family to your bairns. They want to take on raisin’ and caring for ‘em back in Nexxian city down south and believe leavin’ the babies in yours and our hands is a burden they’d be willing to shoulder. You’re a guest of Redpointe, which just about makes you family and you are the fulcrum of their existence. They passed through your gates to enter the world and their fate is your authority. As the children are our wards, we leave you the ultimate word in decidin’. What say you? You have our support in any direction.”

Again, no nonsense. Rose was a fan of ripping the bandage away in one swift move rather than peeling it slowly and making it agonizing. While she didnt think much of Ciello’s ‘parenting’ style, the mother was always the end all, be all.

Her grip on the shotgun tensed as her anxiety flared. Gwenna was about to bleed her bottom lip if she bit it any harder.

Sillent:

{Patience.}

Did El really give off that impression? He heard the Spry comment (how could he not) and he thought he was being perfectly even and civil. Sillents eyes narrowed to Rose.

“What El meant to say is that we've actually been camping...outside of your territory, five miles out in fact, from the map Angelo drew to get here. Just a tent, an old man who never sleeps, a dog, a boy, and a seven year old. We've no notions we're actually welcome here given what we're hear for, and while the 'offer' is appreciated we wont impose.”

Simple, to the point, ease the air there, hopefully, clear a thing or two up. A thing or two more could be said especially Why asking Sophonx (which Sillent did agree with) rather then Ciel was a better idea, but condescending tones werent needed, yet.

Els sights went to Sillent for that for a second before turning his head back to Ciel, blinking. The little crys from the half sister, already beloved by El just by seeing here, hearing her little noises and crys made him shut his eyes. He was half temped to speak to her before suddenly those crys grew quiet, muffled even. Eyes shot open to see of all things, Ciels hand, in a non nice/comforting sort of way and he just stared at the motion before looking up at Ciel, dead in the eyes. He was glad Sillent was here at this moment, his gaze into the back of his head made him bite back words that'd only make things worse.

As to what brought him back...Who knew? Perhaps there was a bond of sorts, bio-organic that kept his memories and physical body on profile, maybe there was some cosmic warp magic woo woo BS that brought him back to life, either way it involved his own mother and despite it all, memories kept the two from being respectable towards each other (In other words, the player doesnt know given it wasnt his doing nor did he want to...but might as well put confusion to the best, right).

A second later, something caught Els gaze and he looked down, blinking as he saw mini-Sillent try to make his way over to him. For the briefest of seconds, this brought a smile to Els face, a bright content smile formed before toes gripped and pulled him back, making him frown again. When Ciello stepped forward and practically scrutinized him, walking circles around him like the aptly dubbed 'Animal' that she was, he just stood there, shut his eyes patiently and 'took it'. It wouldnt be the first time such a thing happen, or disdain was thrown in with it. Thoughts of the past of the word 'mutt' and 'genetically useless flesh-pod' were brought to mind and he had to exhale to stop himself from making an unpleasant face.

When she said her answer, he winced, opening his eyes, Sillent shifted in place and then of all things she told him he should convince her. Again, flabbergasted at the oddity that was Ciello Regallo, El cleared his voice and waited for her to stop moving.

“I've taken care of my little brother, Zeal Regal Zerephan, for a long time, even before I met Sillent. At first it was me and dad but when dad died the first time it was...just us and a few friends for a while. It was the better part of a year or so until Sillent found us and by then, sooner, I...got the hang of raising him. I knew his habbits, his personality, what he liked, what he didnt, his little hidden secrets (Like his stutter he still has) and everything since he was a baby up until now, where he is seven or so years old. The few times I couldnt be there, normally because of force or because of things I didnt have a choice with, I've always kept Iris, my dog, near him like now. I suppose what I'm saying miss Tier, Ciello Regalo, is that I am good raising my siblings, I enjoy it, it makes me happy and I want to and have means to do it and...Well, even before I met them really...I've loved them ever since I knew they existed, since I met all of them just now; Meryl Elric Zerephan, Sillent Sune'ere Zerephan, and Angelo Aaron Zerepan II.”

He bowed his head but was almost startled up when Sillent cleared his voice.

“Mind you, I dont intend to let them fester either, Regalo. Each Zerephan (person in general but narrowing it down here) develops in their own way, individually, uniquely and aside from looking out and taking caring of them with my Great-Grandson, I aim to see them develop in their ways and with what skills they make or want. What they choose to do when they're old enough.”

A point of strength and abilities. On what could be done. Sillent didnt know this woman from a whole in the ground personally he had only read  Angelos scribblings but there was a hint in there, perhaps he was wrong but he didnt think he was, that said she appreciated such a thing. Development, strength, the development of strength, etc. Maybe if Els half reasoning half pleas didnt work, such a thing which was guaranteed to be done with Sillents Intent would click a few things...Or maybe she was just buying out to torment the boy, like he suspected she was doing. He wouldnt put it past her, no, not with how she looked at El and the face she said when she spoke his name.

A grimace for covering the child’s mouth again and she barely bothered to conceal it. Perhaps once the little charade broke up Rose would forget her distaste for other people’s children and try her hardest to do something about the trauma inflicted on the little toddler Meryl. It was a damned shame.

It was then that Rose remembered she wasn’t some preternaturally talented ‘Child Whisperer’ like her best friend currently involved in some empire halfway across the world, in love, swinging a sword going places she herself had never dreamed off. Not a day went by that she didn’t miss Khooey— at least she was set to visit sooner than later.

The menfolk spoke and she turned her platinum irises back to them; brows knit as she was informed they’d been camping none too far into the pines already and for more than a few days. Five miles out was reasonably assumed open space and beyond where they’d set up all those hundreds of wards to which the girls of Redpointe were intune.

“I kennit…” she’d say; nodding her head once to the Elder Sillent’s news that he had no intentions of being put up in their camp grounds. Admittedly, the Nepenthe experienced some relief as she wasn’t too much like her mother and her ever present subdued personality which put even a big dumb lug like Harken at ease. Instead, Rose was quick to anger and her mannerisms could be somewhat aggressive and severe. Certainly, she was trying to keep a cool and civil head with those present. However, they weren’t out of the woods yet.

Syzygy, Rose’s steed— nattered and stomped as Ciello closed the distance between herself and the son of her late lover and father to her children. Confused about what sort of ritualistic dance this was, she walked the Helios back five feet and to the left. Gwenna’s would mimic the action. Now, they were both equal distance between the two sides and out of the way which a better vantage point in case things got ugly.

“Don’t know about this, Rosey…” from Gwenna; their voice as androgynous as their appearance. Rose only shrugged. They’d not scheduled such an event...what could be done?

Both sets of eyes native to the land searched back and forth; following Ciello as she wrangled the boy like a mountain lion circling their prey. It finally clicked that this is what the small woman reminded Rose off— something both feral and feline. And some had the nerve to call her wild in the past? She was Miss Manners compared to the small femme.

The Springfield in the brown girl’s lap was stroked absentmindedly. She felt the pièce de résistance would come soon enough.

Sillent:

{The Life of Cold bitter rage.}

Things were quiet. El felt Ciellos gaze on him like a bad itch and it would of made him uncormfortable had he not been used to such gazes. Always by women to, by his mother, by someone he actually did like but betrayed his fathers trust, etc, but always them. He watched Ciel pointedly, green eyes never leaving her figure, head canted up a bit, ears twitching. Sillent did the same, Arms crossed, patient as ever, eying the two, head tilting to the ranch hands for a second, gauging their reactions. Nervous, not exactly sure...That didnt bode well while Sillents head turned forward to look at the exchange again. The words were spoken and Els mouth hung open slightly.

“I...One of the three? Well...I...”

He thought about it actually. This was part of a 'deal' in some aspects, Sillent thought for a second the both of them could get one over on Ciel to an extent then 'work' the rest out as well. Ciel turned after eying the boys and the first thing El saw was Meryls small face, at first, turned up to look at Ciel but turning to look at him. It made him smile, that bright one from before.

NO!”

Sillent, even when angry, didnt shout a lot. When he did it was a booming sound that echoed no matter how or where he shouted, such as now. That was the first thing El heard, the second was the gunshot. He didnt move...The last he ever saw of his sister, just as he was looking at her, was the distinct look of one dead in such a way their eyes roll in the back of their heard and show nothing but the whites. He saw the hole on both sides of her head, and the blood. Black blood, with a odd silver tinted scent. His senses were as such that he could smell them but he was ignoring them. No, he only wore that same smile he had for Meryl and was just looking at her. Like a piece of meat she was tossed to the boy, the small blue clad girl with dark blue eyes soundlessly thumped against his chest then fell to the cold ground with as little life and sound a dead body ever gave off.

He still didnt look up from that spot Ciello had held the girl, he just stared at it, with that stone still smile. All Sillent did was just look past Els feet, to the little girl that had such potential aside from El. The first Female Zerephan in a while, a long while, dead, like that...And by a weapon Angelo had made for her mother. The same weapon El had hidden away at their campsite with Zeal and Iris.

One could imagine the stillness of the scene from the utter shock of the madness that just took place, and yet, the first to move in that slow beating amount of seconds was El. One careful step forward over the dead girls body, one foot then the next. There was a snap, one that sounded like a mesh of flesh and bone and there was not a thing in all of Redpointe at that moment that stopped him right then and there, and truthfully, after what she did, was there anything in Redpointe that would have the gal to actually want to stop him? He was on one spot, and then, the next, his feet werent even on the ground., his body in the air, a sudden leap, enough to make the grass below him forcefully part and mat to the ground was taken right towards Ciello. Maybe she was expecting, wanting this even, maybe not, but the suddenness of it all, the violent quick nature of it would hopefully be to much for her to avoid...Or maybe she wouldnt at all?

Regardless, the leap was meant for the woman and should it collide, it'd be like being hit by a truck of some sort. The boy, despite his body mass and swiftness seemed to weight a ton upon impact and should all go as planned, Ciel would find herself flying back, over the twins and landing on her back/side, suddenly finding she couldnt breath because of the fact of El being on top of her and his hands were literally enveloping her throat.

El had changed in that brief amount of time. His clothes literally seemed to meld into his body, his tie turned into a liquid like state and seemed to mesh into the white shirt before that two went completely black. Those same bone like snaps were taking place consistently as this occurred and it could be seen quite clearly that Els once small stature was changing, literally growing outward and expanding in sudden clumps of what one could assume was muscle. His torso, his arms, his legs, all of that expanded and changed into a pitch night black like form that seemed to constantly move like it was water and occasionally spout something that looked like a tentacle or sharp limb from various points of his body. It took a lot to get El to actually show his Mothers side of the equation. Its something he practiced, usually took time to build because after the fact he became incredibly tired after if he put it out so quickly like now...but he wouldnt be long, no, not at all.

“...I'm going to kill you.”

El said. His hands had changed to. What were small and pale and normal looking became vein induced muscular monstrosity things with small daggers for nails, the reason his hands could envelop all of the womans throat. When he spoke, one could see his teeth had changed, becoming sharp, shark like, his face in general going completely pale as did his dirty blond hair.

“I'm going to do it in the slowest fast way I know how. I'm going to break down ever inch of your body, to the Cells, to the DNA, I'm going to make you think and want me to choke you, but I'm not going to, every time you think you're out of breath I'm going to let you gulp down air and then continue rotting and killing and piercing you from the inside out, because I know how to, because I want to because...Because...”

His face was enveloped in black and his once green eyes were replaced by diamond colored oval shaped fly like 'eyes' if you could call them that. It appeared for a brief second he was wearing a mask of sorts, but where a mouth section should have been opened a maw with a long tongue and few but very sharp steel colored and black hummed/outlined teeth. The very air mystified/turned to a cold cloud as the maw opened, a hiss of inhuman, hell, inanimal proportions was let lose.

“...YOU KILLED MY FUCKING SISTER YOU PIECE OF SHIT!”

If all went as well for El as he intended, Cell would be able to feel what El had threatened. Small holes (possibly) made from those sharp nails would feel as something organic but foreign entered Ciels body and began to gradually, but what would feel like to Ciel for ages, break everything down on a DNA strand/cellular level. From the neck down, El was intent on making this process both quick for him but agonizing and what would feel like forever for Ciel.

And between all this? There was Sillent. His head was down, his brow cast a shadow over his steel eyes as he stepped forward suddenly. Moving, his footsteps seemed to be carrying him to El at first, but should he got unimpeded, one would suddenly find him kneeling and carefully, carefully (without ever looking at Meryls body) scooping the crying twin boys in each of his arms. If his intent, which was very easy to tell (thought he gave off the impression he didnt care) was made, was clear. He'd turn, not even looking at El or Ciel or Rose or Gwenna (or their steads) and again, very clearly, head towards the exit of Redpointe.

All that was running through the mind of the old mans was one word; No.

Perhaps luckily, or perhaps not— all present underestimated a lifetime of training for the Redpointe girls with firearms, timing and aim. They didn’t ride the horses or carry the guns for show. Every “Ward Girl”, Rose, Whinnie-Sloane, Gwenna, Ava, Delphi and formerly Khooey; was a trained crackshot, could hit six targets in a row on the back of an Equus Helios and were considered in some cases more frightening and efficient than most inner city constables by those who were familiar with the compound and the Matron.

Whether or not that training would save Meryl’s life would be up to reflex, but Rose had been eyeing Ciello the entire time she circled El right until she turned back around and let her hand rise. And both Rose and Gwenna were trained to see the glint of a gun before anything else.

Both Springfield special thirty-ought-six’s rose and fired, aiming for Regalo’s skull. The likelyhood the femme would lose her head in an splatter of blood and bone courtesy of Fleschette bullets which Rose had poured, pressed and assembled herself before Meryl took a bullet was good but no one could speak for how close Ciello’s hands had been to firing and if they’d carry the motion through.

Meryl’s fate notwithstanding….Gwenna had lost all semblance of nerves and anxiety after they’d both cornered Ciello’s skull by the custom shells; their twin-team aim likely leaving nothing behind— the rounds were in like a penny and out like a pizza. The pale one immediately jumped down from the Helios; more than likely putting herself in harm’s way with intentions to check the body— had a body been present. Neither knew who or what Regalo was or had been capable of. Or, if she had the ability to survive a dosing of Redpointe security.

Rose lowered her own weapon, placed a hand to her heart and came away with something, a sigil or servitor that resembled a free floating dodeccahedron. It was a Servitor; something Djinn and Jann both used— much like Khooey had employed on the battlefield in nexxian. However, the object was not used to attack but to activate the third tier wards and lock the party into the glade. Around them, the conduits of Redpointe roared to life; sending pillars of hot red light surrounding them and putting a barrier of what was not unlike preternaturally formed toroidal energy.

As the conduits roared beneath as well and siphoned power and not just from  anyone bleeding force within the barrier but all of them would find their own energy and core of power looped back into the land and tethered to it. It was the perfect trap for those overly powerful types who would come through Redpointe territory and case havoc; the conduits claiming their influence and activating what Rose called “Anomolies” throughout the land. It took less than a second or two— and if there was no immediate deescalation, it wouldnt be long before the ‘Meat Grinder’ made its appearance within the barrier.

“Any more surprises and you’ll be whittled into kindlin’. Stand down.” she’d say to all present not a native to the land; Meryl’s brains on the grass or otherwise; including El beginning to transform. It all came down to reflex. Was Ciello Regalo of a sort of power that could withstand losing a head? Or would her finger follow through?
Regardless, El endangering the compound and the wards was not an option.

In the meantime, Gwenna took a single look from Rose and turned back toward Lark to mount the steed and run him around before bounding harmlessly through the ward barrier and back toward the estate. Only Rose remained along with her oath to put her life and power down for the land and the vulnerable. Shock hadn't quite set in yet but the screaming disbelief that a mother would produce a weapon and attempt to dispatch her child was already knocking around her skull.

Sillent:

{Been Had.}

Three shots instead of one. El didnt even have a chance to speak before all hell broke lose, and two bodies were now limp, shot to death by the whim of bullets. Much changed as eighty percent that was going to happen (last post) didnt but El still stood, and Sillent still boomed a 'NO' before shots were fired (literally) and El still held that sort of smiling stance from before.

“....MERYL!”

Except replaced intent filled wrath and potential violence with a rush of feet through the ground to the 'dead' girl. The concern for the remains of Ciello Regallo were nonexistent, nor what Gwenna was doing as he pried the shot girl from the cold dead arms and cradled her lifeless corpse in his arms, crying. Sillents intent was less then hampered by Rose and Co, rightly so, but just as he reached the blood covered boys, of course, something took place. He thought it odd there was an oversized shadow around the blanket before, mostly because the Sun was hardly past Nordic (IE, cloud covered and light) and despite the show of the nanny, he just stood in front of her, steel eyes slowly glowing a shade of black and his lips twisting into a look not so pleasant.

“If anyone actually thinks the whim of that...”

He was interrupted.

“Ack!”

El let out a noise inbetween crying at the...well, actions of the dead girl if one could call them that. Sillent head whipped back to see...Well he wasnt exactly sure what he was seeing. Those eyes of his told him certain 'things' but overall, the picture told him some sort of power was at play. From a dead body only one could guess, maybe a cursed spirit? A wraith in the making?

MERYL!”

Again shouted by El but instead of utter sadness and hopelessness, it was because of the very loud crys the now...living girl was letting lose. Tears turned to relief as El hugged the girl and cradled her in his arms.

“Oh sis sis sis...”

Said lightly by El. The process of a 'phoenix' revival, as one could imagine, was one that literally burnt like hell and this was no different as the means to come back burn through Els clothes and into his skin, giving him a nasty little burn on his chest, stomach, and below his chin slightly (as he was lightly laying his chin atop Meryl head), but he didnt see to mind. Not one bit. Sillent left blinking as he stood in place. Black eyes took a turn to Steel again as Sillent sighed. Tension left and for a second he looked at the shadow nanny, then the corpse of Ciello, then to Rose Gwenna as she rode off.

“It seems we've all been duped, intentionally at that.”

Said Sillent rather bluntly. His eyes trailed to the dead corpse of Ciel and he sighed.

“Well now I owe you a favor or two because this...Woman decided to do what she did. Feel like it wouldnt have happened had we not come around.

He eyed the shadow nanny, squinting.

“I dont like to speak for people, but after that act of your...Whatever Regalo was to you; I'm not exactly sure such a 'bond' or request would hold merit. Maybe had she told people Meryl could do that and not, in what I suspect, get herself killed at her expense, I'd be inclined to suspect thats up to Roses matron to decide...And frankly I'm intent on waiting were my family is camped until she gets here and see what we can do.”

That frown never left his face as he turned to Rose.

“Again, we wont impose or bother you, we'll ask you kindly to inform us when your matron is back so we can discuss things. For now, we'll leave...My Great-Grandsons in your care and with your permission, leave until then.”

He brushed himself off and paced to El, putting a hand on his shoulder, who was still half hysterical at Meryl being alive. At least they got her, for now. Sillent looked down at the boy sympathetically for a moment before looking up at Rose.

“And that...Favor was for you, by the way, Gwenna to if she wants it. I'm not so dull as to think you wont be in a load of shit when the Matron gets back, even if Regalo warranted what happens. Whenever you think of what it could be, hell, even now, tell me and I'll oblige but again; Permission to leave?”

He waited, hoping this just didnt get worse.

None of the girls trained as Redpointe constables were scared of a little blood, bone and brain. They’d all seen it from both human and animal; whether it be from dispatching a hostile or simply doing one’s duty after a hunt in the Taiga to replenish the meat stores. Occasionally, something big and mean would come down from the north; attracted to the tiny civilization that was the compound and its scents roaring upwind. They’d done it all and, if applicable, sometimes it provided good eating for the all the souls who called these lands home.

So, it wasn’t the spray of red, white and creamy pink that made the sight on Rose’s Springfield 30.0.6 tremble, it was the failure to stop Ciello from blowing the kid’s brain out. That and, of course— what came after. The spray that coated the twin boys’ notwithstanding; it was that what was already a tragic mess very suddenly got even stranger. The Jann felt the power twisting and curling beneath her feet; aware that it was fighting to penetrate the pneuma of all present and attracting it’s winding course— and yet it seemed to be ambivalent about the woman who’d come from under the blanket.

“Th-....” Rose had meant to say something in response to Blue Gal mentioning who she was meant to look after only for it to get caught in her throat, the 30.0.6 swinging to the blue woman. In her newly compromised awareness she did not begin to fire and for the first time since she’d been a little girl who’d first picked up a rifle her aim shook and swayed. By the looks of her brown skin going a bit gray and clammy looking it seemed she was giving in pretty rapidly to shock.

That alone was an anomaly. Rose had been through far grittier situations and come out the other side only to dust her shoulders off and light a cigarette. It was the roaring pain in her skull; it felt as if her brain matter itself was boiling and her lungs ached ferociously as if she was breathing for the first time. It felt like drowning!

The Springfield suddenly sagged at her side and the Nepenthe, the Jann haphazardly dismounted from Syzygy and went to her knees beside it before vomiting profusely. She’d had three whiskey sours and an oversized bowl of soba noodles that came up burning into the snow dusted grass. It was partially the effect from the agony she was experiencing and the rest was the sudden understanding that the connection between herself and little Meryl had been formed and magnified as the conduits coursed through them both.

She’d been experiencing the painful sensation of resurrection. Directly from a briefly deceased toddler into her own mind and core.

A high pitched screech rattled around her skull...the sound of ear drums knitting them back together before reforming the sensitive cilia that would enable Meryl to hear once again. Red eyes looked away from the refuse she’d gifted to the ground and up toward the old man. He was speaking to her. She only caught the end.

“Su….” she whimpered; grimacing and then taking a deep, ragged breath as it was finally over and, seemingly, she had her own brains and experiences all to herself again without reborn children bleeding into her. “S-...Soph knows. She knows already. She’s comin’ back within the next days…” How the ranch constable knew? A mystery. Truth was, she understood Sophonax and her lands were one and the same...nothing escaped eer awareness within Redpointe confines. Rose pulled her dirty denim prairie skirt up to wipe her mouth and no doubt intentionally showed entirely too much thigh and panty to the gentlemen present. She could not have cared less and was fully unaware. El seemed a well reared young gentleman, anyhow.

“She….she was gonna kill her. We’re tr-trained to protect the k-k-kids man….she did kill her. She shot her!  But…”

And finally, she began to panic and hyperventilate. Those wide, silver eyes that had been somewhat wild, cold and all business at the same time a mere twenty minutes earlier were stuck on Ciello’s corpse. By no means had she wanted to kill the small woman. She’d just acted on instinct.

Sillent:

{Fools' Errands}

Sillent gave Rose a look, one that bordered sad/sympathy...but was half forced. If it wasnt obvious by the blunt nature of the man, such things did not come naturally, and even if he wanted them to they didnt come easily. The show of underwear didnt bother him (El was much to distracted smothering Meryl) and he put a firm hand on her shoulder.

“Alive or dead, its never easy seeing children suffer. I've been around long enough...Its something you dont get used to.”

He eyed Ciels body. He was honestly half tempted to spit in its direction before he left but he thought better of it.

“Fools errands are fools errands, Rose. Sometimes they cant be stopped, sometimes you cannnot predict them.”

He sighed, taking his hand from her shoulder and stepping forward to El.

“As short as it was, I appreciate what you've done here, how you Did protect my family. I'm in yours and Redpointes debt to an extent and intend to pay it off in whatever way I can or you all prefer. Just, well, thank you for caring.”

He removed the long black leather coat he wore and put it around El and Meryl.

“Come on, you can baw and coddle each other on the way to camp.”

Firm words but spoken softly. There was little El could or would say. The shock of something he loved so much being alive despite being shot in the head had a hold on him, but he mustered a nod as he slowly stood up, one arm relenting grasping Meryl and tugging at Sillents coat to keep it firm on him. He wanted to keep the little phoenixling warm, even though she left scorching marks that, though thankfully were not excruciating due to what El was, would indeed leave a big round scar on his chest.

“Come on baby...Lets go meet your second older bro Zeal and see if Iris remembers you.”

Even if she didnt, he knew the Netherhound would grow accustomed and attached to Meryl again like she did with Zeal. The boy began pacing off but Sillent stood back, watching him go, shutting his eyes and sighing before his head turned slightly and his eyes narrowed to Truffles.

“...I think you're the type of creature that knows where people are without a hitch...or if not, we've got Meryl and I'm sure you've some way to trace her. Either way, we have a camp way outs of here and...you and me should talk.”

For a brief moment his eyes narrowed to the wailing boys, perhaps to hint at what that he intended to talk about should she choose to pay a visit before Soph returned. After the look he turned and stepped forward, to Ciels body, brow creased, frowning, hands placing themselves on his hips.

“Buried in the ground or cremation?

He asked no one in particular, but everyone who could here. It wasnt something he was honestly very keen on doing, but then he thought of his Grandson, and his Great-Grandson, and well, best to follow by example he supposed. Odd start but he was trying to slightly meld/modify that firm mold that'd been clapsed over his mindset and personality for the many years he had lived.

By the time Truffle had come along, Rose had buried her head in her hands and seemed to be fighting to get some semblance of normal breathing back in order. She looked up toward the strange femme; still huffing when she was passed one of the children— and she did take the boy gingerly and with a delicate handle on him. All of her irritation for other people’s children had evaporated. However, smears of his mother’s blood and other bits were still on him though he had been wiped down as much as possible.

“Sh-she planned it…?” she’d snivel and after would become obviously embarrassed at her reaction, though, it was in no way overboard or irrational. Rose simply had a modicum of pride and disliked being emotionally vulnerable in front of just about anybody. She had a past that had required she go about hardening up and it was failing her for the moment. Thus, she squared her shoulder and appeared to be trying to force her breathing back into some semblance of normality.

Now, the half Djinn stood on shaky legs but demonstrated enough coordination to not only hold onto little Angelo; but to rock him gently on her generous hips much as she did with her own Odine. And speaking of— Odine had been crying and wailing for nearly five minutes but the young ward girls on the wraparound porch of the main house were too busy running in circles and flinging glitter at each other. The gun shots had hardly phased them enough to quell their fun. Even the young weren’t as innocent as they seemed and everyone had to do a little hardening before the reached a sanctuary such as Redpointe.

Red eyed but keeping it together, Rose turned toward Sillent as he spoke to her; still fighting to keep it together as he put one of his hands on her shoulder.

“It’s...it ain’t nothin’.” she’d say; seemingly forgetting to hide her mountain born accent as she had earlier out of embarrassment. “Just...we’re trained. Gotta keep the kids safe. I’m...I’ll get over it. I don’t like bein’ a piece on somebody else’s chessboard.” To say the Nepenthe resented being played into suicide by constable, especially in front of the innocent and their family, was an understatement. Sillent asked about the body and Rose immediately shook her head and raised a hand; making an official declaration since she was in charge for the moment of the land they stood on.

No. We’re taking the body into the cold storage till Sophonax gets back. Don’t worry none. But….y’all aint gotta camp outside of our bounds. We’ve got cabins not one mile from the main house. I’m gonna put y’ up there until th’ Matron comes back. I...think we’re past formalities. Once she’s done we will send her off by fire...by tradition.”

They had a quonset style building in the compound made up for the mentioned cold storage that acted sometimes as a morgue. Foreign aggressives would come onto the land and Gwenna, ever touched by the dead, was always on site to examine the bodies for research and determining what they were, why they had come and what could be done to stop them. Usually, her tasks were cryptozooligical in nature— this was something entirely new. But it was true enough that the body should only be moved into preservation for the time being.

"She was...known to you. Kind of. Wouldn't be right to exclude you." Rose finally broke unwavering eye contact with Sillent to look down to the boy. The innocent shouldnt ever be an audience for such horrors. Keeping them safe from such things was the entire point of providing safehaven for those too young to understand they had been forsaken and forgotten. Now, look what had happened.

Sillent:

{Bodies and kiddies}

It was an obvious point to say that it wasnt 'nothing', to Sillent at least, but he let Rose have that. He gave 'Angelo' a look over right quick before he moved to Ciels body. A little more (whitsh) hair then his siblings, slightly paler to, and he swore he saw a lighter shade of blue. Mothers features. He nodded to what Rose said in terms of the body. The offer was one Sillent shouldnt and would not refuse so he simple nodded again and turned his head.

“You hear that?”

Sillent spoke normally, maybe a little higher strung. El was a good distance away from the rest of everything and should not of had means to hear, but somehow he did and in response he gave a thumbs up to Sillent. A nod was given in return and he turned back to Rose, frowning, but nodding.

“Best for the kids at least...See their mother off I suppose even though they probably wont remember it...Most of 'em.”

His sights trailed to the direction El was walking, squinting. Something [I]other[I] then that...flash revival thing Meryl did was different. TO much so, in fact, his brow creased and he eyed Rose.

“...Do you happen to know if Regalo...I know this is going to be a horrible thing to say or think of, but...you dont happen to know if she Experimented on Meryl...Do you? Because I can tell you this: I sure as fuck cant survive any bullet to the head like that.”

His sights, just as he was about to end his sentence, turned to Truffle. An inquiry to both: The shelter provider (for the moment) and...the shadowy demon like lady who knew Ciel well, was apparently a part of her. He blinked as he took Sillent in hand with both hands, awkwardly cradling the baby named after him in both of his hands. He frowned again but more in a curious way. He was used to kids in a way, knew the motto 'blay to keep the boredom away' usually kept them under a semblance of control and willingness, but babies? That was still a bit different for him. Eventually his hands moved to his chest and eyed Sillent-2. Shorter hair then his brother, not as pale, though the same eyes. At least they'd be easy to tell apart when they grew...or so Sillent hoped.

El traveled with Meryl in tow. There was a temptation to little rock or cradle the girl, but she seemed oddly content laying her head on his shoulder and fidgeting with his ear. He didnt mind in the slightest himself, though occasionally there was a snapping sound and one could clearly see the burnt spots on his body literally being invigorated with a new layer of 'healthy' but paler (scar marked) skin...and eventually clothes. Racial traits were nifty for such thing, as they were for detection. The trail was taken out of Redpointe, but El stopped, eyes shutting. Senses were woned for a moment and told him the quickest way to pick up Iris and Zeal and that way he headed, a little through more foliage, but he didnt...though at the last moment he picked up something slightly off that wasnt normal for this area.

“...More and more visitors, its a busy day for Redpointe huh Meryl.”

His head turned to eye the girls cheek which he lightly kissed with all the love and affection an older brother should have. If only, in some way, he knew.

Usually, Rose wasnt the sort who needed people to be nice to her, coddle her or give her any form of reassurance. She could be a bit of an aggressive ice queen; preferring her own company and precious few others. Thus, Redpointe was a bit of a paradise to her. Truffle’s words did manage to soothe her soul a bit. Such a difficult situation was hard for Rose to understand— Ciello had effectively committed Suicide-By-Cop at her and Gwenna’s hands.

“‘Long as….aint nobody sufferin’” she’d say; watching the femme turn away and deliver the other twin boys to their great grandpa and then see about Ciello’s corpse. The sight of everything messed up above the diminutive woman’s shoulders cause Rose’s stomach to lurch, but, she bit back another messy reaction; steeling herself to answer the query.

“We got gold storage ‘round the Silos. There’s metal slabs. We’ll keep her preserved. That blood was spilled on our land….got certain traditions that need to be honored if nothing prevents em. She was messed in th’ head but we wont do her dishonor in death”. Rose jerked her head back toward the main house where Gwenna could be seen in the distance leaning against the cedarwood porch railing and clearly worrying herself to the point of nausea. The baby was jostled a bit to soothe before she threw Sillent a confused look at his question.

“No...experiments? Not that I’m aware of. She only came ‘round every few days or a week and would just sort of sit around cooing at them. Sometimes being a little weird with ‘em. I cant speak for anything she might have done when we weren’t monitoring their time together”.

Rose heaved a sigh; finally seeming to only be shellshocked rather than in shock and began to lead her horse back through the pines; intent on leading Truffle onto the lands and into the compound with the body in tow. The 30.0.6 was stowed in saddle straps.

As she was traveling, the wards screamed once again; setting off alarms inside of her skull that another visitor had comes. With a baby in one arm and reigns in the other she stopped, closed her eyes and turned an irritated expression skyward.

“Not a-goddamned-’gin….aint we had enough excitement for one day?”

Whoever it was? They were coming in hot.

Sillent:

{Experimentality.}

“Some experiments can be more then physical.”

As he knew, the comment made a few spots hidden along his body pang, but he did not convey this. Stationed with a baby, Sillent was very out of place at the moment. Awkward was the best word to describe it, though he handled it well, or as well as one not accustomed to handling babies often or at all. Angelo Jr was still sniffling at the sounds from before, despite being held by a more comforting grasp in Rose, but the babe partly named after him was stiffing the motions slightly. What little signs, even from near newborns, told the old man.

“Of course she did.”

Truffles' words made Sillent frown in a most displeased sort of way. It seemed the woman had it out for the kids to have any choice of life. Choice of paths (the whole reason things between Ciel and Ang soured), choice of abilities to an extent, choice of Family of all things. He exhaled a breath of air from his nostrils, annoyed, finding it hard to refrain cruel words for the corpse-woman but leaving it at that.

“Bullet pointed or not, they actually have choices now, and codes can be broken.”

He said offhand before his brow creased a bit. He looked between Rose and truffles, not exactly in tune with Redpointes security systems or with Truffles 'sibling' sort of sensory. New entrant? His eyes turned in that direction.

“...There iss a pink haired woman with half her head shaved heading up here.”

Meanwhile, said pink haired woman passed her technical step sibling and half sister. At first, El was clearly intent on getting within 'signal' range of Zeal and Iris, but a sudden alert doe like turn on Meryls head made him stop.

“Whats up baby?”

With a slight smile El turned his head in the direction Meryl looked and blinked. El wasnt one to judge on appearances (that wouldd be TOO hypocritical on his side if he did) but even this was a tad bit new.

“...Did that lady have pink hair, Meryl?”

To Truffle, the brown skinned femme continued to frown with tired looking, red eyes from the stress and shock— but she did incline her head in acknowledgement to the thanks. “De nada…” she’d say; sounding huskier than usual. After, she raised a brow. They were nearly across the two acre lawn in front of the enormous, two story ranch home before Truffle informed her who it was.

“Well damn, how many kids did she have…” she’d say; unable to keep her vulgar nature at bay for too long. Mostly she asked with such a hostile tone because she wondered what those other children and maybe now some adults had been through at her hands. If she could use a kid as a body shield and and then blow their brains out with a smile on her face who knew what she’d done to her other spawn. “First” implied there were more than a few...the ‘we’ meant Big Blue was one herself. Rose was starting to get a picture of Ciello’s reproductive weirdness. Thus, she stopped their procession with a hand up and turned around; seeing someone bound onto the lands with eyes trained on them for what must have been an obvious reason.

“She...gonna be hostile? I mean, I— we...Gwenna and I— we did kinda kill her Ma’am. That kinda don’t get taken well.” Luckily, the wards were still active and so she would have the lands to use against said hostility, but, Rose had very little control and direction with her Djinn-given power. As a Nepenthe, she was something like a siren and her abilities aside from the use of her servitor were generally all passive and had a mind of their own. Being of halfblood meant that her ability with the servitor locked her out of being able to produce or control the Dwirgi. Jann got one half, not the other. Khooey was whole and thus came with the entire Djinn deck of cards.

Now, Syn had simply run across the lawn and nearly bounded into them. Rose didnt raise the rifle at her side and only gave the woman the same tired look she had given to Truffle earlier. She still had little Angelo on her hip and thought it bad form to turn any guns on his sister after what had taken place.

“I uh...I don’t know, it seems kinda dumb to say ‘Sorry’. But we’re trained to hell to put the babies first an’...she had a gun, man. Shot a baby. It was instinct” At the very least Rose never looked away from the pink haired woman— she had funny eyes, she noticed. Kinda like a goats? Rose had spent far too much time milking, culling and dressing goats not to file that particular detail away.

As for the “First daughter”? She had no idea what to expect. Naturally, she expected uglyness to come about.

[B]Sillent/El/B]:

{Housing for a bit}

Eyes tilted to all involved parties in front of Sillent Xavier Zerephan. From Truffles to Rose then to Syn. A thought or two ran through his head and he cleared his voice. Quaintly, with Sillent-2 in tow he paced over to Rose.

“Mind pointing me to those housings you mentioned? Also, if its not to much to ask, can I have both the boys for now? We're not gonna steal them off butttt...just in case Matron and 'Guardian' object to us taking them, I'd like them to be around family for what little time we'll be here.”

A no was a no, but if a yes? His free arm was ready to take Ang Jr. He tried to discreetly show it in body language to; as 'trusting' as Syn sounded...if things got ugly, it'd best be to secure both boys away from potential conflict that could do harm to anyone. Still, up to Rose, regardless.

Not a hint of trouble went off for El and Meryl, so they were left for their own dues. Through the forested landscape a good amount of feet was traversed, with El occasionally sniffing here and there but eventually stopping.

“There they are.”

The 'signal' had been met with a response and though one couldnt see them; the shaking trees in a short distance told the story. A halfway point was made, El traveled two and a half miles out, Zeal and Iris did the same. The Netherhound once in view had grown...to the point that while on fours she was actually taller then both El and Sillent, and, well, it was easy to see why her prattling towards El had nudged around trees like they were nothing. Snow white skin covered a dense mixture of strong muscles lacing incredibly strong bones, further maturity of the Hount blossiming in the hard bone like crest sticking out of her head and the once bone rivets on her shoulders becoming spike like. Ridges about her back seemed more developed (as pointed out a bit naturally), as did the bone like club like tale on her end.

This is what approached El and Meryl, in all its huge somewhat intimidating splendor.

“...Apt!”

But the bark, as guttural and low and alien like as it was, told a different story. As did the prancing about like a dog just about to get a treat.

“Whooaaaaa Iris!”

Squeaked a little voice and gradually the hound calmed down. Situated just behind/above the Netherhounds bone crest poked a small head. This head had a slightly more 'rose cheek' complextiont o its white skin told, and a different shade of dark blue eyes and blue laced sort of hair. It was clearly a boys face, one that squirmed a bit then hopped down from riding the Netherhound (whose head was probably bigger then both, the boy AND Meryl combined), landing on wobbly legs before pacing over to El, with a smile.

“El!”

Exclaimed the boy (revealing filed looking shark like teeth in the process). A curious look was given to the girl El carried though, as well as an inquisitive frown. A face similair to Els but different looked up at its older brother.

“...Sis?”

El nodded. El thought this over, still frowning before smiling and looking up at the girl.

“Pretty!”

Said the seven year old in his odd broken speaking pattern (which was used more to mask the stutter he had more then anything). Again El nudded, using a free hand to rustle the boys hair and take his place near Iris (who headbutted him slightly on the side in affection and earned a pat herself) while Zeal took place beside El, hand being held as he looked between the blonde and Merl.

“Come on, we got a house to stay in for a night or two.”

And without further ado, off they went. Simple as that.

Rose sucked air through her teeth; grimacing slightly as she was assailed by all sides: two children of Ciello (and it had her wondering if Ciello had managed to get around as much as Sophonax— she decided no, of course not. Not since the Siila had managed to sire a royal bloodline halfway across the world a couple of millennia ago.) and now the big dead man of the hour’s son El. It was all so sudden this massive influx of family drama from both sides of the baby’s making.

To say, Rose was getting a bit agitated. She didn’t know any of these people and the only ones familiar and known to her were the babies. She’d done her shifts taking care of them and the other wards in the nursery just as often as she’d been on Sentinel duty. The fun never stopped at the ranch— for once, she actually wished for all of those times she’d been mildly annoyed at having to change the diapers on little Sillent or Angelo or clean up after Meryl rather than deal with their extended lines. Couldn’t be helped though— she’d removed one fountainhead of heritage from the picture only twenty minutes prior.

“The baby’s...fine. That much I know.” For Syn. She paused to rub her own temple in the spot Meryl had been shot and her stomach almost lurched as she recalled the sensation of resurrection by proxy.

“Alright, alright, everybody jus’...fuckin’ simmer down alright? Here’s what’s going to happen.” Since she’d been asked by El to take the boy he’d find himself bogged down with Angelo in no time; the kid seizing a lock of her long, tightly wavy hair and nearly trying to take it with him. A little bit of finagling and she freed herself from the baby’s grip.”You-” Rose pointed to Syn; grimacing at the upfront way she asked for a confirmation about the shooting.

“-Are going to take the body. Blood trumps all” And likely, El and the old man might feel that was unfair, but, it was a cadaver and not three vulnerable kids registered to their hold. Not to mention Redpointe gals were blatantly and shamelessly distrustful of men. “I jus’ need you to leave a few locs of hair. We can work with that for the….well, the stuff we have to do. There’s no foul play involved.” Rose blew air through pressed lips and nodded her head with a grimace at the whole “fucking bitch” bit. “I’ll let you tell it but ‘Forced my hand’ is pretty much the case.”

“And you-” She turned to El and frowned. First it had been the camp grounds for them but they were way past that point. If they wanted to see the kids they needed to stay in the main house, not too miles down the road and up a hill. If a blizzard rolled in, it might be too difficult to keep the babies warm. Rose damned her maternal instinct and guilt and carried on.

“We’ve got guest rooms. I’ll put you and you old man up for however long it takes. If I'm gonna lose skin off my ass over this might as well go all out. S’got two full beds and I’ll put the bassinets in there for em all and a crib.” Might be a little cramped with the old broad bugger but they would likely be fine. A free hand went to her hip and she balanced the other palm on the barrel of the Springfield special and screwed her mouth up.

It did bother her that ‘Syn’ was so eager for a corpse, but, it was her mother after all. Mother’s mattered the most.

(OOC: A little corrective note: El is actually outside the ranch, Rose, gathering Iris and Zeal before heading back. S’all good, I’ll just play the part of every ‘referral’ to El being Sillent.)

Sillent/El:

{Inquiries.}

Sillent took Ang Jr in arm and just looked from the baby to Rose. Awkwardness for the stout old man doubled but he kept his cool. Contraire to belief, Sillent actually didn’t pipe up at the mention of Ciels body. Hell, the whole ‘cremation/burried’ question was more out of ‘kindness’ then anything. He honestly didn’t care about it, no, not after what happened to Meryl. That hair comment though…

“Dare I ask why the hair?”

Normally that type of stuff was for rituals or memorams. Maybe he just answered himself, but the inquisitive nature of the Zerephans kicked in there, for a moment. Rose mentioned the rooms and Sillent upnodded in response.

“You wanna point me in the direction of them? El can sniff me and the boys out when he gets closer and you look like you want to be left alone with one less problem for a bit.”

A bit to frank? Yes, but it showed on the girls face. Tuffles piped up and steel colored eyes turned to the nanny. A frown formed on his face but, what could he do?

“You got a name?”

Syn was given a wide birth, to say the least. She seemed uninterested in the boys and Sillent, and frankly? That was fine. One less issue to deal with in a land of issues at the moment. With Roses approval and direction given (or the more likely ‘I’m gonna guide you there ‘cus I don’t trust your old ass) Sillent would be off, babies and shadow-nanny in tow, towards those rooms.

Meanwhile, Iris’ ‘ears’, the hyper tuned bone spikes on her shoulders twitched and  her head lifted up at the babies ‘Apts’. Head tilted, she turned head inward eyeing the girl, bone tail swaying. Yes, she recognized this one. A pale thing white tongue slipped out of a lipless maw and gently licked the side of the girls face. El smiled.

“That’s right, you were around with her and dad. Iris loved Kids…Helps they weigh as much as a feather to her.”

He tilted his head up a bit at the inquiry. Zeal, despite Meryls look had a sort of ‘on track but wandering mind’ all little kids tended to have and was taking anything he could see in, holding Els hand all the way. El pointed a thumb to himself.

“Biggest brother.”

He pointed to himself, then pointed to Zeal.

“Second biggest, and so on. You’re third, I believe Sillent is fourth and Ang Jr is the youngest, simple as that.”
The trek to Redpointe was going smoothly. Slow but smoothly which was good given the oddities and body movements going on at the ranch.

Rose cocked a brow at Syn as she stared; her own slightly too large irises meeting the goat eyes in turn. Depending on what she was intuned with, Syn might see there was a lot to the brown skinned Jann or Nepenthe, or she may pick up nothing at all. Eventually, Rose shook her head and broke contact— now was not the time for weirdly intimate games of dominance. At least, that was how she interpreted it.

She’d stand back and fight a grimace as the corpse was passed over; noting something, a giblet perhaps, had fallen out with the motion. Another stomach lurching to season the day…

“Well you certainly got m’ there….” she’d groan to Syn’s words and her strange sense of humor. And she was absolutely correct. There was plenty of scalp back where it had all went down. It was more than enough to give the land what it demanded: a tribute to cleanse and forgive a powerful death within the confines of Redpointe and the wards. As for Sillent asking why she needed hair? Her only answer was “Tribute. Pay the dues.”

“-Guess I’m that damned easy to read!” Rose continued, huffing at a second ‘gotcha’ from the gaggle of strangers. She wasn’t the one with all the social grace, smiles and patience— not like Khooey who geniunely seemed to like people, naively gave them the benefit of the doubt and was as helpful as she was sweet. But Khooey wasn’t around and Rose wanted things to wrap up soon. The entire scenario had fully drained her batteries. “Head up the stoop and take a side door in. Might run into Whinnie but Gwenna already knows what’s up. Tell ‘em I’m putting you up and its on my ticket. End of the hall on the right side there’s a staircase. You want to go up it, second door on the left. I’ll move the bassinet in later on.”

A sigh and she turned to the old coot and jerked her thumb toward the ranch home. “It’s my ass but its also my word. They won’t give you any trouble.” With that, she set off back toward the pines with one objective in mind that she’d rather not have to engage in: picking around in the frozen dirt and snow for a dead woman’s hair.

Sillent/El:

{The Windings.}

So he was right, mostly, about the hair. For a second, he thought Rose would fight him on something or hold him at gunpoint and guide them all there, but luckily directions were given. He nodded and shifted in place with the babies in tow.

“Thank you.”

Spoken simply. Taking the directions (and stopping to mention Roses name when needed, of course, as well as El when the boy arrived), the old many wouldnt take long to get where he needed to be, even with his little entourage. Details were taken in about the housing though. It seemed the accents werent for show at least which was something. A body of water could be seen not to far off either from a window. Zeal and El would probably like that, the two loved to swim after all.

“Truffle.”

Sillent said simply just as he entered their assigned room. The first thing zoomed in on was a bed and this he went to, slowly and carefully placing the twins down on them.

“You sure take after your damn father.”

Muttered more to himself, but in referral to Ang Jr.The boy was still sniffling and snorting a lot while Sillent 2 seemed more or less, calmed down. Producing a clean hankie of sorts, the man began the process of diligently, carefully, gently, and slowly wiping off the specks of blood on each boys face. Ang Jr was of course proving a bit more fussy while Sillent, squirmy like all babies were, seemed more placid at least.

“El' make a crib when he gets here. If you were wondering why I didnt ask you or Rose back there for one. Maybe two...or maybe none. Maybe he'll let 'em all just sprawl everywhere on him.”

Referring to Truffles, though whatever El did was his own thing, or something.

Meryl put up a small fuss of sorts to El, in fact, an almost intelligent one. El could of swore he heard a little speech that wasnt only baby blabbing in that tirade and...he kept it in mind.

“You dont say.”

Was all he said to them for now. Before they knew it they were on the outskirts of the ranch and for a moment El stopped, sighing. This part was never easy though he'd done it before many times.

“Alright Iris...Zeal grab your pack bud.”

Zeal nodded and Iris seemed to crouch down a bit. From her back, hanging near the center were two packs, one small (obviously for Zeal) and the other much bigger. Zeal took the smaller backpack and put it over his shoulders while El took the bigger with his free arm. A look was given to Zeal.

“You got any white milk in there?”

The 'fuss to be' was coming from Meryl and El sought to quell it at least. Zeal frowned thoughtfully and searched his backpack of kid snacks and drinks.

“Yes!”

He squeaked and handed it to El. He nodded, popped the straw in it and offered it to Meryl to see if she accepted. Turning his head to eye Iris, he sighed again and tilted his head to the side.

“Go on, I'll getcha whenever we leave, girl.”

Lowly whining slightly, Iris rubbed her massive frame, like a cat, against El, who took a step back from it, watching as Iris suddenly bolted off into the forested area. Trees and stones and boulders and stumps did nothing to hinder the hounds way, as evident by seemingly everything bending or cracking to her running will.

“And make sure if you hunt, its wild animals not in fences! And dont go into any towns or cities on your own again!”

Said loudly for the hound to 'hear'. The second, even when it happened was never a problem but the first? Cost El a pretty penny or two...or a week of free labor on the animals owners part. Nodding regardless, El turned and began pacing towards Redpointe, nostrils sniffing the air. Ah there was Sillents scent.

“Lets go see Grandad and your bros, hm?”

And they would!

Some TK RP, a continuation/finish on my and Ciels part:

16:08:55 The-Shadow Mention of El making a crib for the babes or simply forgoing it to let them lay all over him made the Shadow grin brightly, exposing teeth and extra long canines. "Boy sounds good with them. Unusual for one his age." Truffle watched Sillent clean the twins faces. She could contribute to the effort but they were not hers and he was doing a fine job anyway. "What is family to the Zerephan? Ciello and Syn are the closest I have to blood relatives and you saw how we were. Not close. Just barely non-hostile I'd say. But you came seeking Meryl and the boys..." Did they want to take them? Had they somehow heard how terribly Ciello was treating them? The root of the question was unanswered and the living Shadow was the only one around to ask anymore so ask she did. "How did you find us? Angelo said El was dead. So he wasn't in communication with the boy before he himself died. Did he send word to you, Sir?"-e-

16:17:16 Sillent {Answers.} “It's a long story, to be blunt.” Mistreatment, lack of mother but caring father, that type of jazz. He just finished wiping down Sill 2's face before sighing, moving around and sitting on the end of the bed, brow raised just looking at the two boys. Angelo Jr. Finally calmed down and just sat squirming a bit, and Sill 2 seemed to be getting groggy. “Family is a lot, mostly. Theres few enough as is despite Angelos...Dabbling. Yes I saw it and believe me, barely hostile is better compared to the slaughter and counter slaughter we've often led each other to.” A grimace formed on his face. What little people knew of fathers, brothers, and bloodshed. He'd look at truffles, eyes narrowed. “Angelo tends to write everything down. Before death, and he is, was unusually good at keeping whatever he wrote down in tact. I found you through some journal stuff he wrote down and a map to here from Nexxian. As to El...I want to tell you I know but thats the boys, his and his brothers, mothers-
16:17:26 Sillent - doing. El doesnt exactly like talking about it, when I first saw him this time he didnt exactly look like he wanted to live.” Zeal and the mention of other siblings helped quell that feeling, luckily.

16:26:31 The-Shadow had the small desire to reach out and touch baby Ang's hair but her touch was cold and dead, it would not soothe so she stands in place aside the bed. Zerephan men had a history of killing each other, that was not a good way to start convincing the Shadow that their hands would be best for the twins. She frowned, "So you've got bad blood too. How can you assure me that the boys will be safe in your care?" Mention of Angelo and his constant writing did ring a bell for the Shadow. She had been around him and Ciel, watching from shadows and had seen him writing. Such methods of documentation and communication were often left forgotten in this day and age and it made the Shadow stifle a laugh. It made sense that it would somehow have found its way to Sillent, Angelo's grandfather. El was dead and it sounded chillingly similar to Ciello's mood when she would come back from death in the past. Each time a bit more of her was gone, like sand leaking from an hourglass. Ciel had rushed into the idea that-c-
16:28:04 The-Shadow -c- being with someone and having offspring would give her some purpose and fill that emptiness. That fallacy did nothing but drive her further into a cruel state of being though. She could not love, she would never be happy so she sought to make others miserable. "Children are an easy source to give one purpose. I do hope El finds joy again. Poor child..."-e-

16:40:59 Sillent {Differences.} “The differences are most, all of those biological bad bloods are dead. Theres that and I like to think me and El know how to protect ourselves...And if that isnt assurance we picked up Iris along the way, who was originally supposed to be Els to begin with.” If that wasnt a wall of protection, Sillent didnt know what could be. “And you'll be with us to, if you choose. Which was what I was going to ask. We've no intent of just taking anyone (except Meryl, apparently, since that is what Regalo and El chose) but in the grand scheme of things, its apparently your choice and a smidgen of this Sophonoxes as well, which is why, well, why separate all things to begin with?” Bam, maybe that was incentive enough on its own, or maybe not? Sillent figured the offer would be appreciated at least. His eyes half closed and he sighed slightly, from his nostrils. Sill 2 did manage to clonk out while Ang was being a bit more fussy. Sillent reached and gently took the boy in his arms, who made a sound
16:41:07 Sillent - but quieted down after being rocked a little. “I want to tell you he will, for the moment...as long as it takes for the kids to grow, he will be, but in general? I dont know. Boys got secrets which make him frown a lot, ones he never has told anyone, I'm more concerned for when he's grown then right now, but, we'll see. Worries good to have anyway.” Ang Jr reached and lightly grabbed his finger. Sillent wiggled it and the boy cracked a smile and toothless little happy sound.

16:49:44 The-Shadow felt sad inside. Maybe Regalo's and Zerephan's were made for each other; to suffer together. Truffle was aware of Iris and was assured minority by the hounds presence among them. It was more so the way these families lived, how they struggled to smile or love that bothered her. Meryl, Sillent and Angelo were too young and too innocent to be given up on yet. They had the potential to live long happy lives together and to succeed in life in whatever they would choose. Shadow nanny would be happy to watch them for decades to come if they could reach the level of happiness they deserved. "Sounds good, pops. I'll stick with you for now." She has no end date for her stalking. Maybe when she sees the Zerephan can raise the babes well? Maybe when the kids are grown up, strong and happy, no longer needing guidance. Maybe the Shadow would become a permanent companion to the Zerephan clan for ages to come. Not like she had an expiration date herself, being undead and having lived hundreds of years already in-c-
16:51:32 The-Shadow -c- another world beyond this one. "He needs to share those secrets. Or they may rot his soul.... I can't bare to see that happen again. I'll be around, Sir, if you need me. Always in the shadows." With that she would melt down into the puddle of darkness that is cast under the bed. Slipping out of sight but always there. Watching, listening.-e-

16:57:22 Sillent {Clouds.} Was that a hint of sadness? Some. Her confirmation made him nod. “Good to be working with you...Its Sillent by the way.” In response to the sir, and to the secrets? He shut his eyes. “...Sometimes its not the matter of when to share them, but with who, or all inbetween. I agree to an extent but it must be done on his own whim with who he wants, not forced.” Another nod and he watched the nanny go, into the shadows. He had to ask later if it was a matter of literal shadows or 'pocket dimension' shadows or something but it was a small point.
