You can run the jewels or lose your fingers!

Post by Sophonax on Fri Jan 16, 2015 7:56 pm

The adventurous souls with the intentions of visiting Redpointe ranch were in luck according to the weather. It was a ‘balmy’ twenty nine degrees at mid day and under an overcast sky. Warm for this time of year in the wild taiga. While it was warm or at least not dipping well below the zero degree mark [Fahrenheit] the visibility would be greatly reduced by gorgeously thick, heavy snowfall. The seventy five mile path from the common Nexxian coniferous forest belt (the border between the continent and its people and the Redpointe mountain range and woodlands) would be no less difficult to navigate, but, at least it was linear. But for how long? The anomalies were getting a bit worse…

Sophonax seemed to be anticipating company while sitting on her enormous wrap-around porch and watching the snow fall. Evergreens that lined the expansive anchorage surrounding her compound were bending and swaying slightly with the weight of the snow upon their branches and the Siila guessed that they would get approximately eighty seven centimeters of snow on the ground before the night was spent for dawn—and it did not ever fail to stick this far up north. Thanks to the cold the brown skinned, white haired woman tilted lightly in a porch rocker; Ma’tik elk fur boots, a Stetson hat and what looked like several heavy-knit ponchos around her body seemed to be her meager battle against the cold. Or was it comfort? She certainly didn’t seem bothered.

From between the fabrics came a brown hand a pipe. Without the use of a lighter she put the mouth piece to her lips, inhaled and released thick, velvety white smoke from her nostrils that would float away to her left and carried the scent of herbs, rose and marijuana with it. Once the strangers had set foot onto her heart, the land, she’d carried herself outside to wait.

Guests were coming soon, yes? Sophonax was ever the good host.

Before the attack on Nexxian City

The reason for the excursion today was the delivery of a questionably born Djinni. A Four Elements Djinn in fact that had no so much been 'born' from Ciello so much as the new creature slipped out. Time had taken it's toll on Ciel and with a mind fractured from lifetimes of pain and unmanaged emotion. Sometimes memories, emotions or abilities learned over time escaped all together from her. So much time she vested into herself and becoming a living experimental factory. Mastery over the Four Elements escaped her and no longer could she conjure Fire, Water, Air nor Earth. Things she learned ages ago and took for granted. She could tap into those skills via the link to the new Djinn. The creature took a chunk of Ciel's soul with her to become her own unique living thing. Body, consciousness, personality, even some memory were original to the Djinn despite her not having existed for more then a few weeks. Her memories would predate that 'birth' by years. Such is the confusing effect of Ciello Regalo. Too many lives and memories swarming together in a pool of souls stolen over the course of many lifetimes and many worlds. Not that Ciel could recall any of this!

The point being: A Djinni was on her way to RedPointe Ranch. Manufactured, synthetic, born or otherwise. Honestly Ciel was going to leave it up to the real Djinn to decide Calamity's validity. Although for now, Calamity the Djinn was no where in sight. Her presence missing from this place. She had been sent up ahead.

At the moment, Ciel stood waiting at the start of the treeline while occasionally looking back across the land towards the Nexxian City. It was a short trek here for her as she employed the use of her Shadow to cross the land in short bursts from shadow to shadow where shade was cast.

Long sleeves, leggings and a fur lined coat that reached mid thigh adorn the little woman whom looked begrudgingly at her now fur booted feet. Her feet were confined! For the first time in ages... Or perhaps ever. But with the promise of heavy blankets of snow and the Elements no longer a part of her body of Mastery it was an unfortunate necessity that she wear shoes for once in her life. A thick leather pack is worn on her back with rations. It is mockingly large compared to her small self but she is eating for three and fuck anyone who comes in between the pregnant woman and her appetite.

Traveling on foot and occasionally hoping from one dark source to the next one several dozen yards ahead in her sight made the trip a bit shorter then average but it still took time. But time Ciel had. Before she left, Angelo had appeared concerned for his dear friend and the Godfather to their daughter. What had become of the golden haired boy? Angelo would find out and handle it. Such a sad sight it was: The animal of a woman becoming domesticated, pumping out babies and escorting other 'children' or hers across the lands to the Ranch. It seemed her wild life of Arena fights and death were behind her.

The matron of Redpointe knew the moment an unfamiliar soul set foot on her lands. Some ways back into the blended border between the taiga and the common woods several invisible and warded checkpoints alerted her to the foreign presence. Yes, she'd said guests were coming and as usual she had been right.

"Gerdie-girl. Go'on an' put some tea on, ayuh?" she'd say; voice smoky in such a way that it paired nicely with the blend inside of her pipe. All iron and spice. The little brown skinned filly with two long, thick goddess-style braids that had made the mistake of wandering past the wrap around stoop and getting caught for a favor. She soon scurried inside and put the kettle on while fetching a foiled bag of the matrix blend: heavy with spice and relaxing herbs to put the mind at ease.

Another pull from the pipe and thick, white smoke permeated the air while she watched the perimeter. Rose Na`Gig of coffee colored skin and black hair with an oil slick sheen rode one of the Equus Helios toward the wooden gate stationed beside the trees guarding the path. An adult now, she was quite pregnant and still seemed insistent on taking her shifts for guarding the lands with a rifle in hand, a highway coat and a flat brimmed hat. Assisting her was Whinnie, a Ya'tok tribe orphan, in similar guard-- no baby bump for her.

The first eyes Ciello would see were of the two young women atop, no doubt, the familiar sort of horse they rode. Two Equus Helios; with crimson eyes and hair long and so gossamer that it seemed keen to almost float. Hooves split in three with wickedly sharp curves and sleek trunks more like something lupine than equine. Would she remember Vierge? Khooey's horse from the arena? If so, she'd no doubt found their breeding ground.

'Help you...?' Said Rose; no doubt looking hostile while Whinnie immediately narrowed her uptilted, dark brown eyes at her guarding-partner.

'Sophonax said someone was coming. Chill. She don't look like a Raider to me.' She'd grumble.

After, both turned from each other atop their towering steeds and stared down at the diminutive blond.

'Search her pa-', "Oh my god, I said CHILL!'

Seems Whinnie and Rose had two different ways of doing things. After a bit of bickering Whinny appeared to finally put her foot down.

'Sorry about her ma'am, we've had some...interestin' uninvited guests at the Ranch these past few months. Taken care of now but Rose's 'bout to drop a live one any minute now and cain't seem t' stop getting awful moody on us. Come on in.'

No sleep for the pregnant woman as she came within sight of the Ranch perimeter. The trek was long and tiring but she prevailed was ease. Her mysterious companion made use of herself here and there but being new to the world the Djinn was playful and flighty. The scent of magic tickled Ciello’s nose when she came to the ward checkpoints. A trill sounded around her from the unseen Djinn exploring the habitat in all it’s wild wonder. Magic had always been stifling, suffocating and stagnant to Ciello, it simply put her off like an itch under the skin.

Snow was thick underfoot and fell lightly from the skin to decorate the pines and rocks of the land. The Four Elements Djinn had mostly traveled in the form of snow and air itself. Comprised of the elements and commanding them as well, she danced through the area unseen for the most part. Deep muffled trills sounded now and then of the Dragon’s delight. Raw and deep the guttural sound gave the impression of a large beast with fire in it’s belly but her true form was much much more gentle then that. As they met the perimeter, Calamity would react strangely. The unseen Djinn attempted to claw and gnaw at the wards in place and would succeed in causing them to bend and tear under her toxic touch. While this occurred, Calamity’s form flickers partially into view then flickers out over and over.

Calamity! Leave it.” Ciel commanded. She created the Djinn, it is a part of herself and would obey. Tired grey blue eyes with crescent shaped pupils met the Equus Helios first. The petite woman was certainly aware of the two other people but she marveled at the beasts and gave them her full attention. A bare hand is extended palm up to the nearest one, lifting said hand upwards as it towered over her small five foot tall person. “Vierge” she repeated as the memory of Khooey in the Arena played through her mind like it had just happened. Her mental state was not good and it too a moment of blinking for Ciel to look up at Rose and Whinnie after they had spoken and Whinnie had to settle Rose down. All that time the little preggers blonde stood, blinking blankly. Her eyes drifted to Rose’ belly and then up to her face. “I understand. I encourage you to be cautious.” No offense was taken. Rose was a mother acting like a mother through and through. Ciello stepped on to continue into the Ranch while bringing a hand up to lightly trail through the gossamer mane of Vierge. Wordly whispers escaped thin lips as she attempted to commune with the beast. Not any one language but the sounds and understandings of the wild were expressed. Respect. Awe. Adoration. She praised the beasts for all they were like a mother to their child.

The Dragon came partially into view after being scolded. Her movement fluid and unaffected by gravity. Liquid motion in the air revealing the brief sight of a masked face fully engulfed. Concealing eyes, nose, mouth and wrapping thick around her throat where a lock embedded with wards held the thing physically and magically in place. Huffing heavily sent hot steam that glimmered prism color escaped the respirators on each side of the mask. Blue hair is made into two thick braids with red pearls weaving in and out of each leading down to a large ivory and ebony orb tying off each thick braid. Her clothes are sparse with a tube top and long folded skirt held on by a thick high waisted obi belt complete with a large bow at her back. Red rope with multiple colored beads drape across her waist and thighs holding numerous elements she produces in convenient gem form. Socked feet with traditional Japanese geta sandals adorn her tiny feet. But those feet have yet to touch the ground. What skin is visible is milky white like the snow. Her image disappears into uncountable snowflakes spinning away and upward before heading towards the Ranch’s main house.

Calamity was young, excitable and brand new to her abilities, controlling them or following rules. Thank God for RedPointe offering to meet her and take her in. Ciel, having a daughter and two more in the over had no time nor patience for the new Djinn.

Both girls perked up at something tugging the wards. Obviously, no one at Redpointe who couldn’t read the wards and tether themselves to them accordingly would be unfit for manning the perimeter. It took a Djinn heritage to do so and it just so happened that both Whinnie and Rose were Nepenthe, or, one of the rare sorts of demi Djinn born only of Siila heritage and very similar to sirens. Both were most likely literal daughters of Sophonax. Rose, of the yellow eyes and blackbird hair swing her rifle in the direction of the being futzing with the wards with an alarmed look on her face.

“Calamity? Who is that? One of yours? She aint s’pposed to be able to do that”

Whinnie rolled her eyes but seemed alarmed as well.  “It’s fine, Rose…simmer down. Ought to tell Sophie about this”

Both of them squinted; watching the space where Calamity should have been unseen but no doubt seeing more than assumed considering—and they didn’t quite realize this—that she was apparently kin. There was certainly an aura of power and familiarity around the one with thick blue braids.

“Guessing that’s Calamity. Alright ladies, let’s go. Can’t keep the mistress waitin’ too much longer” said Rose who, for some reason, seemed to finally be on board through there was quite a bit of suspicion laden in her tone. Now, Whinnie extended a hand to Ciello with the obvious offer that she mount her Helios, Kirikke, and accompany them to the other side of the coniferous woodlands and into the bare, snow covered anchorage of the Redpoint main grounds. Rose, however, had already turned around to head back. Seems Calamity didn’t get the offer—really, she wanted Sophonax to get a load of the floating.

By any means they would soon breach the grounds’ gates and into a sprawling compound; the redpointe wards’ dorms to the left of the grounds complete with three old fashioned red school houses, the main house directly ahead across two acres with a few industrial looking facilities and silos behind it. To the right lay the horse pens; their stables appended to the main house. Just behind the compound? A massive, sprawling lake with a gorgeous, snow capped mountain scene behind it.

(Thanks for pics!!!)
did not react to the rifle being wielded by Rose in the least. Not a flinch nor blink nor any acknowledgement of the threat directed at the floating ethereal Djinn that continued to move about in the form of snow dancing in the air. When a hand was lowered by Whinnie, the petite woman did look up and her eyes softened in a subtle way yet it expressed her deep gratitude. Her body was cold and aching; getting off her feet was a welcome thought. Taking that hand she would use Whinnie’s assistance to mount Kirikke. Once atop the muscular beast she would bring her hands to Whinnie’s sides and then slide those cold little hands around the rare Djinn’s belly to lock a hand on the opposite wrist. Poor Whinnie would have the strange little blonde sniffing at her hair and the back of her neck as they rode. White eyelashes closed to relax and feel the strong Helios carry them to the main house. Ciel opened up, attempting to commune once more with the new Helios with an open air of acceptance and respect for it’s power and rare beauty. Strangely, awkwardly, intimate. When words were not necessary, she often did not speak. There were countless impressive structures operating on the Ranch grounds but Ciello’s eyes remained closed and honestly she drifted into a pleasant half sleep along the way but would open her eyes again ice they arrived and stopped. A slow echoing gurgle sounded from her round belly beneath layers of hide and furs worn. The food in her pack was gone, eating for three was exhausting. Someone feed the greet little woman!

The wraith like entity continued to maneuver the grounds as frozen water crystalized into individual flakes like a mini blizzard with a will of it’s own. The snow became compact at times but more often splayed out wide over several dozen yards as the young Four Elements Djinn expanded her body across the land, becoming one with it easily. It took no time at all for the little storm to find more wards to the horse pens playfully. Wards found would be interacted with as the muzzled Djinn tried to eat the magic around her and the  ward would react again, bending, glowing somewhat to be seen becoming visibly agitated by the unintentionally threatening creature. But due to her muzzle embedded with runes and wards of it’s own to contain her caustic maw it would not actually harm the ward beyond a few fine gouges in the design that should be repaired as the damage may be visible to the eyes of any. A sharp bark from Ciello, “Calamity!” again caused the girl to stop and move to the main house to wait. There Calamity would become completely visible as snowflakes melted into flesh, cloth and jewels. Getas clatter softly as she shifts less then an inch left and right with hands lifted, fingers curled in a dainty fashion with pink coral colored polish painted on each tiny claw. None of her face may be seen behind the mask and cloth binding it but it’s clear she is looking around and at the approaching hosts. Those dainty hands lift to the respirators on her mask in such a way that it expresses a shy smile or laugh. Crackling fire and low revving jet engines sound from the encased throat of the Djinn when they are close enough to hear. It does often make one thankful for that strange elaborate mask. If it sounded to devastating behind all that metal, leather and enchantments it was terrifying to imagine her not wearing it. A beast that devours magic and sounds of dragon fire yet she carries herself in a coy manner.

Whinnie felt the swell of the small woman’s belly against her back and grunted softly at having hands laced around her belly so tightly; her eyes widening—but there was no one to share the wide eyes signaling alarm to since Rose had ridden ahead. Odd behavior to get so upclose and clingy with a stranger, but, the older Redpointe girls were used to handling traumatized little girls all hours of the day who weren’t exactly human, thus, Ciello’s actions were noted as odd but weathered without the slightest bit of grousing.

“Tsch! Tsch!” she clicked; sending the Helios into a graceful gallop, again, more akin to the sleekness of something more lupine than equine. There were no hoof clicks with the thundering thanks to them being split in three.  And, interestingly, when Ciello quietly tried to engage the horse in her strange fashion she would find smoke, whispers, and weird promises if she were keen enough to pick up on them. The impression of hundreds if not thousand and millions of mini intelligences seemed to come alert and pick up the phone—the Dwirgi. How they were connected to the Djinn and Equus Helios was  one of many great mysteries.

Only moments of riding as they breached the treeline until they’d reach an area some yards from the main house’s wrap –around porch only to find Sophonax very suddenly standing only steps in front of where the horse’s came to a halt and huffed their black exhaust all over the top of her Stetson hat. Her wavy, white as the snow hair contrasted with nut brown skin and seemed to want to escape the thick lazy braid she’d put it in and cherry red eyes missed Whinnie, Rose and even Ciello to fell with unwavering decication on the one referred to as Calamity.

“Now…aint this unexpected….” She’d drawl; her mountain accent much stronger than the one’s on horseback and even Khooey’s while carrying a smoky, husky tone to it that seemed to hold many secrets. To boot, Sophonax was nearly identical in seize to Ciello which meant she was quite diminutive—but somehow seemed so old, mature and in absolute control of everything.
The reason being? She was. Sophonax had only the faintest lines around her eyes putting her age at mid to late thirties with enough darkness in her skin to offset the scale of aging but also somehow looked ageless with otherwise smooth skin and a youthful, heart shaped face.  She was pure Djinn, but unlike Khooey  and her father Bahst, not an Ifrit but something different: a Siila.

“Calamity, Calamity. Sho’r does live up t’ her name, I ken.” The small woman fully at ease and with heavy lidded eyes extended a small hand in the direction the elemental Djinn engaged in her puckish exploration and testing. “Y’wanna come see m’, ayuh?”

Even Rose and Whinnie looked perplexed as they watched the display and the both of them seemed fully unwilling to question or interrupt the scene and may or may not have been holding their breath. While their heights were respectively 5’6 and 5’9, they both looked as if Sophonax could be heir younger sibling and not mother or matrix but seemed naturally cowtowed by her presence. They wouldn’t dare and instead, their odd hybrid  eyes coursed between the Siila and a little female who was quite visually confusing. What would happen now?

Re: You can run the jewels or lose your fingers!

Post by CielloRegalo on Wed Feb 04, 2015 6:51 pm

As usual the little pregnant woman had little regard for boundaries as she clung to Whinnie. Her grip briefly tightened when Kirikke went into strong graceful strides which jostled Ciello at first. Had she ever ridden a horse? Or anything? Not that she can recall and it took a surprisingly amount of strength and also forced relaxation to ride smoothly on the lopping beast.

Discovering the presence of smoke and whispers in her mind brought a smirk playing on thin lips. So much intelligence and so many at that. A collective? Were they hive minded and communing across a limitless space? “Hmhmhmhmhahahaha~” Unusually rich and dark oozed out a laugh of pure delight that rings low and ends in a sigh. Fascinating. There appeared to me much more that she could take apart were she to get her greedy little hands on one of the lovely Helios. Studying  anatomy and behavior was one thing but exploring the vast expanse of the mental collective would be just as if not more so curious.

The main house came into view only to be met in moments. The plume of black exhaust from the Helios had Ciello perking and raking her nails mildly along the side of Kirikke along with little ‘vrrr’ sounding purrs to further praise the creature for simply being itself. Sophonax’ voice brought crescent pupils directing at the petite assumed matron. Whinnie and Rose felt different in her presence, Ciel would note this and make a mental note to be more respectful of the one with snowy hair and warm skin. Sophie’s color palette does not fall short on Ciel either. Dark skin and light hair were a combination she was fond of which is why she herself was a much more opaque version of the same. Gathering such influence and taking it as her own via genetic adoption had long since been the path Ciello had subconsciously chosen.

Reluctantly would Ciel dismount Kirikke and wince at the ache in her fur booted feet. A few steps were taken with a hand around her belly until she was standing next to Calamity and bowing slowly to Sophonax. Platinum blonde spills over her round shoulders, wisps of hair and random braids falling without certain rhyme or reason to the ‘style’. “You must be the one Khooey Khooey spoke of. Sophie. I am Ciello Regalo. This is Calamity. My…me.” She was never certain of what to call these things. Her daughter? Her creation? It would take further explanation and then the judgement would be placed solely on Sophonax to decide what the new Djinn was and what to do with her. Ciel rubbed her eye sleepily but continued, “A fragment of my soul along with the former affinity and gift for the Four Elements escaped me. A new body and mind came into being and thus, Calamity was born. She is the very concept of a Four Elements Djinn. How legitimate that birth is; I leave to you. She has only existed for weeks and thus is a newborn in this world. Inexperienced, lacking knowledge of strength and restraint. Burdened with a daughter and two more on the way, I lack the energy needed to raise this creature properly. If you should find it in you to take her in I wold be in your debt.” Cold little hands rub over her tired face more and the little woman sways just a bit to exaggerate the point of her exhaustion.
Pregnancy alone was reason enough for her to be hungry and tired. Add in the long travel and the ‘birth’ of Calamity which took away the key to her own internal climate control of her body and you have a woman about to pass out. Ciel reaches up to grasp one of Calamity’s respirators and tug at the Djinn mildly. “Be polite.” she instructed.

Mom sure was straight forward! But she always was. The young Djinn’s vision appeared obstructed from layers of rune inlaid gauze under the heavy mask with respirator but she could see more then fine. Everything was color and magics the most vibrant and delicious looking of colors for the Dragon. Those wards smelled so good and bent under her claws like taffy. Calamity salivated at the thought of the magic bending and breaking between her teeth. It was something her mother quickly learned about and found quick work to stop with the make shift mask. It would hold for now but ideally some self control would be taught and learned so the girl wouldn’t have to have her face locked up forever.

Lulling her head to Sophonax when the Siila spoke, she found the accent most brilliant and deserving of a reply. Opening a pale pink clawed hand summons a smart device that constructs itself bit by bit from the air. Mineral and metal from Earth, circuits heated with Fire. There was much she would be able to craft from the Elements that ruled her being. Typing away with fast thumbs on the device she holds it up to Sophie so she can read what Calamity has texted. For now this is how she would communicate. “lol u sound funny :p”.

Ciel’s expression upon inspecting the text is pricelessly unimpressed. Her tired gaze moved up to the red eyes of Sophonax in the way a mother wordlessly apologizes for their rude child but also expresses ‘help me’ at the same time.
