Couple ideas I had.
So not sure if there is any interest in getting something like this run. But I know a few people have expressed interest in table top gaming, among other things. If we did a table top game, ( over the internet of course ) would it be better to do it as play by post? Or to use voice chat/real time chat to do things. Obviously whoever was running would get to hand pick who they want to play with, so that things don't get ... obscene. Trust me you don't even want to try to run a game by yourself with more than 8 people, it gets to much to keep track of.
My other idea is more just looking for opinions from people. So you all know that I love to write, and usually my characters show up more or less in the middle of their lives, where they've already been shaped by outside influence. Is there any interest in me writing up those back stories for the public to see? If I did it, I'd be looking for actual critique of my writing style not just people patting me on the back.
tl;dr who wants to play table top games online? Should I write up my characters back stories as actual short stories.

Sup, nigga! I would personally love to do a tabletop thing! I've done dice-rolling heavy RP's with DM's before, which were usually play by post, and usually had generated stats and skills blah blah -- you know, your usual pencil-and-paper stuff (but over the internet). So, albeit it not extensive or often practiced, I do have some experience there.
That said, I'm also be open to trying it on skype/through call. My only reservation would be the level of confusion that kinda comes up because we always have people trying to talk at the same time, and some appearing on call as louder than others. I don't know the usual protocol for tabletop games in person -- like if everyone has a turn and speaks or acts on their turn, or if people just...go at it...? I don't know. I have 0 experience playing that way, but i'm open to it -- I just wanna make sure that its not going to be a cluster fuck of people trying to talk at the same time.
And of course you should write your character bio's up. I'd find it motiviating for myself to see someone else doing it. I typically create my characters back-stories in my head and then reveal bits about them through RP, but offering up little morsels of information from your characters; past would not only be interesting, but could also give you an opportunity to reveal things that about your characters that players don't know -- stuff that is a little more difficult to introduce or explain in one of your IC posts. As a result, you might find people trying to also plot more with you and intertwine their back-stories with yours. Just a thought.8)

Well Bryton to be honest a lot of that stuff is dependent on whose running the game. I know people who don't mind an excess of OOC banter. I try to nip it in the butt, especially over skype. You have a messenger you can talk over. I'd prefer if the voice chat if it was run that way, was used for actual game discussion.
Also glad to know that people are at least a bit interested in having backgrounds written up as more then "and then X and Y and Z happened." But as actual honest to god stories. I'm trying to decide if I want to start off with a Sune'ere story or with an Arcerion story.

I'd be more than willing to play something over skype/ or site. Play by post though would be I feel amazingly time consuming. Does Skype have a dice roller now?
