Best Superhero film of 2014
In between Winter Soldier, and X-Men Days of Future Past, this year has been great for Superhero Movies and I was genuinely curious to see what everyone else here thought. For me, I would have to pick Captain America The Winter Soldier as my favorite. Smartly written, with some stellar action that up the super in Super Soldier, I thought this was one of Marvel's best movies yet. Guardians of the Galaxy was a nice surprise, and while I thought First Class was better, I thought DOFP was pretty damn good and can't wait to see what they do with Apocalypse. I haven't seen Amazing Spider-man 2 yet so I can't comment on that one.

I haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy yet, but I do have to say I think Captain America Winter Soldier was my fav too.
Amazing Spiderman 2 was a bit underwhelming.

Was it? I have't heard a lot of good things about ASM2, just that it had great special effects and that Andrew was great was Spider-Man.
Also yeah, def check out GOTG when you can.

ASM2 was rushed, you could tell they wanted too do more but did not have the time, and they end up putting a lot of unnecessary crap in it. I'm not a huge fan of electro and I think the movie would have been better without him anyway. It just seemed a bit disjointed like shit was just kinda happening at random.

I liked all the movies but damn.
I'm torn because I love X-Men and how great DOFP was and how it was a great call back to the original two movies.
GOTG was great and I just watched it again last night. It was like they made space fun again instead of interstellar politics.
The Winter Soldier was probably one of the best Marvel movies to date. And I can't wait for Captain America: Civil War.

Havent seen any of those, but looking forward to the Captain Marvel (/Shazam) movie and Age of Ultron, though.

Re: Best Superhero film of 2014
I'm concerned about the future of the Spider-Man franchise. It seems likely another reboot is going to happen with another reintroduction of Peter Parker into the MCU. I like the idea of Spider-Man in that universe but I kind of don't want another reboot after we just got one TWO years ago! We waited five years for a new reboot and now we're doing it again?
They just need to keep the history so that Spider-Man has some credibility in the MCU instead of just starting from scratch again. Peter's in high school still. He's likely to get with MJ or Felicia (kinda hope Felicia) and is at the point where he could still be mentored by either Iron Man or Captain America.
Though I do see some inconsistencies with the franchises merging. Why wouldn't have SHIELD gone after Spidey yet or whatever. Or why wouldn't Nick Fury have gone "What the hell happened to all those cops who were turned into lizard people?"
