Celesin Armed Forces
Office of the Alis Corps
Alis Ignis Division: Log Book

Log Book Entry 92

The Arena has long been a source of chaos, often leading to conflicts directly involving members of the Celesin conclave, to which we’ve often found pride in dealing with swiftly and efficiently.  To wit, we remain the pinnacle of strength within the world, showcasing our might in public forums to undercut the authority of other parties with conquest in their minds.  These undertakings are more usually left to the talents of the Primoris Ultonis, befitting his particular adulation for battle, which he has consistently handled with efficiency.  However, for reasons no more simple or complex than the ennui of forlorn, warlike impulses, I – the Primoris Drustanus Dradghurst – took to the sands of the arena pit and did battle with a monstrous creature, using the creed of the Óvættrkljufr that boils in my blood as my banner for such action.  Whether righteous or otherwise, the beast responded in kind with a declaration of murder, and from there we both embarked to end each other.

The beast, an insidious serpent attempting to masquerade as some draconic effigy, proved formidable.  Its talents were numerous, and each more challenging than the last.  It is at this juncture that I sight the destruction of my cape.  I was forced to use it more than once, and eventually its actions tore away at the material’s durability.  Though my life was saved, I consider it a wound to my pride that I entered such dire straits.  Nevertheless, after several rounds, the creature thought me cornered, and in turn opened itself up to a fatal final exchange.  I slew the beast, leaving it to rot in the arena.  I am certain of this, and of the fact that it shall not pose a problem to Celesin again.

The significance of this fight is in who the beast was likely affiliated with.  After a thorough investigation, it is my understanding that the creature was in accord with the Chaos Eaters, a cabal of malign entities claiming a vendetta against the living, and seeking the decimation of all life within their view, including but not limited to holdings of Celesin.  Their emergence, I believe, was the instigator for the construction of several outposts by Primoris Olfwood; the demise of this creature also implies the death of the group as a whole, as they have been quiet as of late, and have not sought vengeance for their fallen comrade.  While I would be remiss in suggesting that they will not come back at a later date to restart their campaign, it is my belief that they will not be a problem for us anytime in the near future, and can be considered neutralized.

The Adventures of Drustan Dradghurst Empty Drustan Extra Info: Entry 1

Name: Drustan Alaric Dradghurst

  1. "Drustan"; diminutive of the Pictish name Drust, from ancient Celtic Drest meaning "riot" or "tumult".  Originally named Tristam, but later changed to Drustan for its more draconian appearance.
  2. "Alaric"; of ancient Germanic origin meaning "ruler of all".  Name of a Visigoth king who sacked Rome in 410.
"Dradghurst"; fictional name of forgotten components; a hurst happens to be a hillock, an embankment on a sea of river.

Age: Appears in his early to mid-thirties

By Dra'sin standards he is very, very young; by human standards, he is bizarrely old for how young he looks.  Circumstances lending to this include his alien physiology, and time-altering events during an expedition through the ruined kingdom of Dartania.

Titles: Celesinian, Primoris Ignis, [Interim] Governor of Novus Orsa; Dra'sin, Fi'ran, Óvættrkljufr

  1. Celesinian, a citizen of the Celesin Empire.  Originally a member of the lowest social strata as a Dra'sin/human hybrid.  Pulled from this place by Caden Dra'sen to become a Lieutenant among the Alis Fulminis.  He received rank, titles, and property appropriate for his position.
  2. the Primoris Ignis is a general of the Celesin armed forces, and leader of the Alis Ignis branch.  The branch specializes in siege tactics and bombardment; heavy artillery, armored vehicles, and personal-cannons are among the specialized weaponry of the Ignis branch.  Drustan was promoted following the disgrace of the previous Primoris, receiving rank, titles, and property appropriate for his position.
  3. the Governor of Novus Orsa is the acting political leader of the Celesinian city of Novus Orsa.  Considered the least developed of Celesin's satellite cities, Novus Orsa harbors a freedom unseen in other holdings, lending to the existence of a unique criminal underground.  Drustan, a resident of the city as a child, returned to Novus Orsa with new power, took control of its governing body, inserting himself as its governor, and has since begun efforts to reconstruct the city.  Notable residents include the dwarf-King Konstantine, whose technological acumen went towards the creation Drustan's primary weapons.
  4. Dra'sin, the race of beings credited with the creation of the Celesin empire.
  5. Fi'ran, the warrior caste of the Celesin empire.  Drustan has only recently adopted this as his caste having originally been a hybrid, therefore unfit for combat under social norms.  This was subsequently ignored by Primoris Caden Dra'sen.
  6. Óvættrkljufr, from the old Norse word óvættr meaning 'evil creature', and kljufr meaning 'cleave', thus translated loosely as "monster cleaver".  The óvættrkljufr are the sect of warriors taking their traditions and combat tenants from the lineage of Vakrus Kaezahr, a Keeper of 13, and Drustan's paternal great grandfather.

Weaponry and Paraphernalia: 'Dilacarare', 'the King's Forge'

  1. Dilacarare, from the Latin dilacero, meaning to tear apart or lacerate; also referred to as the cloud cutter in place of Drustan himself, who received the nickname in Dartania during a battle in which he was said to have 'split the sky in half'.  The monolithic axe is Drustan's primary tool and most trusted weapon; it's weight and construction are designed such that few could hope to wield it effectively, let alone lift it at all.  It was fractured and then reforged by the dwarf-King, Konstantine, and has since been housed in the King's Forge.
  2. the Gate of the King's Forge, abbreviated as simply the 'King's Forge' is a pocket dimension factory created by the dwarf-King Konstantine, after inspiring Drustan with her own geoforge.  While hardly comparable to the ability and size of the geoforge, the King's Forge is nevertheless the weaponized amalgamation of Konstantine's ingenuity and Drustan's combat ability, allowing Drustan access to a nigh-infinite storage house of weapons and tools, and also acting as a personal space for the storage of various items and persons deemed important to the Primoris.
